Cat's-Paw, produced by an all teen theater company, aims to provide a thrilling drama while also raising environmental awareness.
The Rêver Theatre Company is a new and unique theatrical company, the likes of which Bend has not yet seen. Unlike all other theater companies in town, the Rêver Theatre Company is completely student run. All actors, directors, and technicians are enrolled in high school in Bend. These students came together to produce an entertaining and thought provoking show for the local audience. We are proud to present our second production, Cat’s-Paw.
Cat's-Paw by William Mastrosimone is a gripping drama about an unusual terrorist, one who is brilliant, articulate...and justified? Victor is the head of a group responsible for a car bomb that killed 27 people in Washington, D.C. He has Jessica, an up-and-coming television news reporter, led to his lair so she can tell the world why he has done what he has done. Victor's obsession is preventing the pollution and destruction of the world's water supply, thereby saving life on planet Earth. When Jessica asks if he feels any guilt over the death of the 27 innocent people, he replies that hundreds of innocent people die yearly because of what mankind is doing to its water supply--do people feel guilty for that? Faith in Victor's message dwindles, though, as tensions build and it turns into a cat and mouse game between Jessica and Victor, culminating in a shocking, unsettling episode. While Cat's-Paw causes us to question our respect for the environment, more than anything, it's a thrilling dramatic work.
With the funding assistance from Kickstarter, we will be able to pay for production costs until the production opens. We are already the rehearsal process and the design team is hard at work. Until we bring in profits through ticket sales, we need to pay for promotional work and set materials. Your funding will help the company prepare for opening night!
