Realm Explorer 0.13a Released!
Added new Craft Window. Pressing "I" brings up the normal inventory button. Clicking the "Craft Item" button will load the craft screen. Items you can craft are based on what is available in your inventory.
Crafting items now uses, reduces and removes the items in your inventory. Switching to a digging / mining tool or a placable terrain object now properly enables / disables the building placement cube.
The previous build / dig controls ("F" and "V" in combination with the F1 through F12 keys) have been disabled. Building and digging are now fully controlled by the selected items in the Action Bar.
When acquiring an item into your inventory, if the item is stackable it will attempt to first combine with existing item(s) of the same type before consuming a slot of its own.
Added a red "dice" button to the Inventory window. Pressing this button will give you a random craft component or terrain resource. You can use these to craft more complex and advanced items. This button will be removed in the future when all core resources are able to be found in the world.
Added new Nails, Wood, Cloth, Copper Ingot, Gold Ingot, Hardened Leather Strip, Hardened Leather, Iron Chain, Iron Ingot, Iron Plate, Leather Strip, Leather, Silver Ingot, Thread, Wood Dowel, Wood Planks, Wool, Stick, Stone Mining Pick and Stone Shovel items and icons.
All existing terrain types are now attainable. Stone Bricks, Wood Floor and Hay must be crafted from craft components. All other terrain items can be randomly generated or dug out of the world (not all terrain types are used in the world yet -- this is coming in the upcoming "Biome Update").
When selecting an item in the action bar the currently selected slot now becomes highlighted. (You can change your action bar selection with your number keys -- 1,2,3,4,5... etc.)
Fixed an issue where the character animation wasn't properly initialized when the player first connected to the server and would default to the "shovel" animation set regardless of the items in his hands.
Fixed an issue where clearing an Action Bar slot by moving the linked item in the inventory would not properly un-equip the shield.
Fixed an issue where the camera would continue moving when a new user interface item (such as the inventory window) would pop up. Camera motion now properly comes to a stop when the UI is open.
The first Action Bar slot is now automatically selected by default upon entering the game.
Improved memory usage and stability.
Implemented LOD (level of detail) for dynamically generated character models. This improves performance when there are many characters on the screen.
Upgraded to Unity 4.
Adjusted torch brightness (light has the same range but is less intense -- this looks a lot better especially if many people with torches are standing near each other).
Fixed the icon for the "hammer" craft tool item. It was previously using the "mallet" weapon icon. It now correctly uses the "hammer" Craft Tool icon.
Different tools have different effectiveness at digging. Presently the stone mining pick / stone shovel are roughly half as fast at digging as the iron mining pick / shovel.
Added new "loot sack" object to represent items outside of the inventory that don't yet have a custom model.
Digging and building are now possible from the Third Person perspective although First Person is still the ideal way to dig and build for now. Digging and building will continue to receive improvements to make them better and easier to use in the future.
