Dear BERO Backers:

Great News – BERO is MFI Approved!

We will now start the process of ordering the CP chips to enable BERO to work with iOS. Other materials are already in house from beforehand and we will be running the production in the next few weeks.

We hope to have the remaining BERO units shipping in early July. Thanks for your patience with this one. We had no idea that this process would be so lengthy and require so much back and forth.

Dear BERO Backers:

We have a new firmware update available for BERO as well as preliminary APP that works with this new firmware.

1) In order to make this firmware update work with BERO, please download the files at the below link, remove the SD card from BERO, insert it into a computer, extract the files to the BERO SD card, overwriting the existing files and then insert the SD card back into BERO and turn BERO ON. The new firmware version will then load into BERO for about 15 seconds. Do NOT power off BERO during this update.

2) In addition, the updated Android APP is required, which is at the link below. This APP will soon be on the APP store, but you can also install it onto your Android phone using the APK file. To install this APP, you must remove the old APP using the APP Manager.

3) Then select “start” and press the button MD1 and BERO will playback a “harlem shake” along with some dance moves and lighting up its LEDs.

4) Enjoy!

WARNING: The new APP and the new firmware need to work together. The old APP and the new firmware do not work together and the new APP doesn’t work with the old firmware.

So where are we with the MFI?

At this point we are modifying the production molds in order to meet the MFI requirements. The plastic piece on the back that covers the switch will me modified to cover up the exposed switch contacts and the samples as well as 1 0 for ON/OFF will be sent again to Apple for approval. We expect to have the tooling ready by May 20th and then will sent two approval samples. Thereafter we expect to have them approved and we can order the CP chip to connect with the Bluetooth module so that its works with iOS devices.

If all goes according to plan, should have them shipped out in June.

While we are at it…we have also FCC certified BERO and have added this into the tool markings.

Dear BERO Backers:

BERO samples were sent to Cupertino for MFI Approval a few weeks ago. They finally got back to us.

The BEROs were rejected by the MFI team because they didn’t have the ON/OFF label put into the plastic parts of the mold and also because the switch contacts are exposed and not covered up by plastic.

We are now working to address both of the above issues and will need to resubmit the samples.

Dear BERO Backers:

Good news! We now have the project plan for BERO approved by Apple! This means that now BERO hardware samples have been submitted for review.  We hope to hear back in  2 weeks regarding the sample evaluation.

Thereafter packaging samples will be submitted and last the iOS APP will be submitted for evaluation. Once all of the items have been submitted and approved, we will have the MFI. Getting the project plan approved was a big step.We hope to have it wrapped up in the next 2 to 3 weeks!
