WANTED: Crohn's End is a documentary about people with Crohn's disease or Ulcerative Colitis who use alternatives when nothing else is working.

My name is Reid, I'm the director of WANTED: Crohn's End and I have Crohn’s disease. I am working on my first documentary about people with Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis who use alternatives when nothing else is working. They have listened to their gut and took a proactive approach to ending their disease.

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 1997, but it wasn’t until late 2004 when I started using the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Within twenty-four hours I was seeing solid stools for the first time in eight years. It has worked wonders for me and I am getting healthier each year. I know alternatives can work for people with Crohn’s and Colitis. It pains me to see many of my friends with Crohn's hurting and being rushed to have surgery. There are better ways to treat these diseases than with conventional approaches and this documentary will show the world how.

Some of these alternatives are controversial and even illegal. For people to receive Helminthic Therapy, they must travel outside of the US because the FDA has not approved them for use and banned the sale of them. Colloidal Silver has the reputation of easily turning people blue, despite this risk being lower than getting into a car accident. THC Oil, which naturally comes from the Marijuana plant is illegal in the US and Canada. Raw milk, another alternative many with Crohn's have found essential to their health is difficult to get in the US and banned in all of the Canada.

Film Presentation and Goals:

Similar to the documentary Super Size Me, I will be in the film as the main subject, doing everything I can to end my Crohn's disease. I will interview others who have had great success with alternatives and choose to incorporate the ones I think can help me the most. You will watch me getting various medical tests and experimenting with both diet and supplements, including some that are illegal.

- Document stories of triumph over the disease.
- Create more awareness for safer, cheaper, more effective alternative treatments.
- Change how Crohn’s and Colitis are treated by conventional healthcare so we have more cases of triumph than suffering.
- Spark a national movement emphasizing patient's right to be made aware of and to choose from all available treatments.

Action Plan:

Production of the documentary began in early June, 2010 and continues to this day. I have completed eight interview sessions as of October, 2010, with people who have either Crohn’s or Colitis. This includes a broad sampling of people including men, women, children and my doctor.

The interview subjects use anything from diet and supplements (some illegal) to infecting themselves with hookworms. Current plans are to raise money to increase the quality of this production by traveling all over the world to speak with experts and patients.

We've got a growing fan base on Twitter and Facebook. We seek to continue to grow this community so we can spread awareness about these diseases, alternative treatments and the documentary.

Expenses:

- Travel
- Research
- Crew

There are many more people to interview, especially experts on the disease and alternative treatments and that requires travel. The lives of those with Crohn's or Colitis does not stop to allow me to save up money. On two occasions, despite having the interviewee's permission, I've had to skip flying to cover their story as they headed into surgery due to the extreme costs of flying on such short notice.

I have a lot of research that needs to be conducted and that takes time to collect and evaluate for inclusion in the film.

I also have volunteers who deserve to be paid for the excellent work they are doing.

Conclusion:

The more we raise together, the better this film will become and ultimately, the more likely people will overcome their Crohn's disease or Ulcerative Colitis. Not only would your support mean a great deal to me, but it would mean the world to millions of others with these two diseases.

Sincerely,
Reid Bryant Kimball
