About this project

In these final days of the fundraiser I really need your support. I am putting in $10,000 of my own money and asking for a 2:1 match from fans, or $20,000, for a project total of $30,000 to record my new album, tour the U.S. from NYC to Austin, TX and to relocate to Austin for the next phase of my career. Also, 10% of all proceeds go to benefit Education Through Music – www.educationthroughmusic.org. The minimum pledge is only a dollar.

Although Kickstarter is set up to receive donations, My campaign is more about advance sales of the new album. With a $10 pledge, you’ll receive an autographed copy of the new CD, “Up Until Now”. A $25 pledge gets the autographed CD and free admission to one of my shows. Donations at higher pledge levels yield larger gifts such as free house concerts, endorsement of your business, product or service on my website, and more.

Over the course of my two tours over the past year, I fell in love with Austin. While both tours were very fruitful, successful and fulfilling, including some amazing, career affirming experiences in New Orleans, Nashville and Memphis, I received the strongest support and response in Austin. The city very quickly started to feel like a second home. I already feel that I'm a part of this thriving, supportive music community. While I love my hometown of New York City, a move to Austin feels like the next right career move.

As an independent artist, I am fully self-financed, with expenses often being large and in excess of my intake. This project is the biggest and most multi-faceted undertaking I have ever attempted, as it entails...

1) the recording of the album, including the producer, engineer, studio and musicians.
2) the mastering and manufacturing of the CDs.
3) a major tour in support of the album one way to Austin
4) relocation to Austin.

Any help you can offer is hugely appreciated. Thank you so much for your support.

with gratitude, love and blessings,
Randy :)

Randy Stern, a native New Yorker, is a seasoned singer/songwriter and world travelling troubadour. He established his roots as founder, lead singer, songwriter and guitarist for Brooklyn's indie rockers, The Nerve over its 10 year career.

Signed to Heyday Records, The Nerve shared a label with such notable artists as the Church, Marty Willson-Piper, Tommy Tutone, and the Surfaris. Randy also did some time with world renowned guitar hero, Bumblefoot (of Guns N' Roses), playing guitar in Mr. Foot's band for a 2005 tour of Europe.

Since the disbanding of The Nerve in 2006, Randy has been enjoying life as a solo artist; singing and playing guitar and harmonica all over New York City and the USA. He's also an established busker and you can catch him on any given day playing the subways of New York.

His first solo album "Give" was released last year on Heyday Records, and Mr. Stern has toured the country twice in the past year in support of the album. He's currently working on his 2nd release which he hopes to fund through Kickstarter.
