ABOUT THE GAME:

Kings of Combat is a 2-4 player Gladiator Combat Board Game that combines SKILL through gameplay strategies and LUCK through the roll of the dice. The object of the game is to down your opponents in battle, acquire all 4 of the Clan Tokens and Win the Crown! The finished game will likely have a MSRP of $44.99 so a pre-order through Kickstarter ($35) will give you a nice discount AND FREE shipping in the U.S. and Canada.

GOAL OF THE GAME:

Each player starts off with their Clan Token. The goal of the game is to down your opponents in battle by depleting them of Hit Point Tokens, take their Clan Token and win the Crown. The Crown Token becomes available (replacing the Center Space Shortcut) when a player has acquired all 4 Clan Tokens. When a player makes it to the Crown with all 4 Clan Tokens, they win the tournament!

Downing opponents is achieved through any of the four areas of Combat: Running Attacks, Ranged Attacks, Arena Assault Traps and Hand-To-Hand Combat. Each time someone downs another player they go up 1 level and get to take an Item Card AND/OR Clan Token from their opponent.

DOWNED PLAYERS ARE NOT OUT! They lose an Item Card AND/OR Clan Token, go back to their starting position, replenish 10 Hit Point Tokens and re-enter the game on their next turn.

WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES:

The list of game components is large and the goal we are asking for will cover the minimum manufacturing run we were quoted. Most of the money will go towards the first print run and the custom moulds for our Gladiator and Swords Markers. The remaining funds will be used to pay for the box cover illustration and art for the Attack & Defend Items.

Tyler Walpole is an Award-Winning Artist with a decade of experience in both the comic book and hobby-gaming markets. His focus in recent years has been primarily on producing fantasy artwork for Wizards of the Coast, Blizzard and the Pathfinder RPG. Lately he's been moving into doing cover art for various comics, including runs on Dungeons & Dragons for IDW and Dean Koontz's Nevermore for Dynamite Entertainment. HOW TO PLEDGE:

Pledging is easy! Click on any of the Pledge Level boxes on the right side of the screen. You'll be taken to a new page where you can choose your pledge amount and reward. Pledges may be adjusted to account for extra shipping (International Backers) by simply changing the amount of your pledge in the box near the top of the screen.

Kickstarter uses Amazon Payments. If you already have an Amazon.com account, you are all set; if you do not, it's fast and easy to set up. Your pledge will not be charged until / unless Kings of Combat reaches it's goal by November 19, 2011.

REWARD CARDS:

Reward Cards are earned through even numbered level-ups (players level-up by downing opponents). Each time a player earns a Reward Card they get to choose which 1 to unlock from their set of 5. Reward Card selection adds an element of strategy to gameplay.

ATTRIBUTE TOKENS:

Another strategic element is the Attribute Token. They are earned through odd numbered level-ups. Players choose whether they want to increase their Attack (Crossing Swords) or Defend (Shield) Value. In essence, adding an additional Die to their Attack or Defend rolls during Combat.

ADVANCED TACTICS CARDS:

Advanced Tactics Cards are used to turn the tide of a battle to a player's advantage. Each card is discarded after it is used.

ATTACK & DEFEND CARDS:

Each of the 6 Attack & Defend Card categories possess equal point values. The difference lies in the 4 unique Battle Sets (Annihilation, Brutality, Carnage and Destruction). If a player collects a matching Battle Set they unlock that sets exclusive bonus.
