About this project

Summary:

"Bleeding Hearts" is the story of a young man named Johnny, who meets the girl of his dreams, only to find out how important her faith and culture are to her. The girl, Samantha, is as innocent and wispy as a butterfly, and almost as faery-like. However, she is devout in her religious and cultural beliefs, and appears to be of a very Orthodox leaning. Is she Hasidic? Is she Muslim? Is she Amish or Pagan, even? Johnny remains fascinated, and transfixed, and after a short meeting, they connect on a deep level. He'll do anything for her... But when he finds out that some of the more criminal elements and creepier denizens of the town start to disappear, Johnny starts to suspect that Samantha and her family have something to do with it. When Johnny finds out the truth, he's not necessarily surprised. He does instead, decide to convert to Samantha's faith, and join the family. Much blood splatters, but no hearts are broken.

Explanation of project:

This is a feature-length film to be directed and produced by Ramzi Abed (Director of "The Devil's Muse", "In A Spiral State", and "Noirland"). It is to be shot in Los Angeles on a production budget of only $5,000, but will still include name actors, talent, and high production value and style. It is to be released theatrically and on dvd, and is being made for the international film market at large, and for film festival screenings, as well. Like many of Ramzi Abed's films, it will be widely released on dvd and through digital means, as well.

How I want to do it, and what it is exactly...

The film is to be shot in a total of 6 days with HD 24p equipment that includes a 35mm lens adapter, sets of Prime lenses, an HD SLR Camera, and multiple smaller HD, Super 8mm, and Pixelvision cameras. Like many of Ramzi Abed's films, it will be shot with multiple formats, but finished in High-Definition for theatrical and broadcast level output. It will be cut on a Final Cut Pro editing system, with fx rendered out in FCP, Motion, and AfterEffects. The sound mix will be done via a full Pro-Tools audio studio set-up for finishing.

What the money is for...

100% of what is raised here goes to the entire production and post-production cost of making this ambitious micro-budget feature film for international distribution. (minus the small percentage that goes to Kickstarter for allowing us to do this).

Thank you!

And thanks also to Kickstarter.com!
