About this project
Welcome to my Kickstarter project! If you like the idea, please donate whatever you can. As long as it all adds up to $3000, the project will fund!
Here's the backstory. I freely admit to a carrying a torch for actor Keanu Reeves. So a few years ago when his band Dogstar came to town, I had to go see them. What I learned that night is that in the spectrum of obsessed Keanu fans, I am an utter neophyte. And it's not just at his gigs either - the online world of Keanu-themed websites, poetry, and fan-fiction is a neighborhood not to be ventured into without caution. I don't know what it is about the guy, but to his devotees he is THE ONE who really gets them, who will protect and adore them and whisk them away to someplace beautiful. It's something. Go to YouTube and enter the name "Keanu Reeves" and you will see what I mean.
Many of the folks that packed the theater the night I saw Dogstar were teenage girls...plus a few guys. But there was a large group of middle aged women too. The woman I sat next to fit that description. She had several t-shirts in her lap and was really bossy about how everyone should be acting at the Dogstar show. She told me all about Keanu and how she'd flown up to Canada to see him in Hamlet. I couldn't stop thinking about her, so I wrote down everything she said and made it into a song.
And now it's time to make a video of that song! To do that, I'm hiring director Micah Van Hove (http://umuima.com/) and animator Susan Chien (http://susanchien.com), and I will perform in the video both as myself and as the woman at the Dogstar show. Susan will animate a sequence that explores the protagonist's Keanu-fueled dreams.
Thank you for your support!
