Help get Railbird on the road! The tour is booked but if we can't raise the money, we can't go. You can get us there!
Hey Everyone,
We are Railbird, an experimental, indie band with members living in upstate, NY and Brooklyn. We're just about to release our debut album "No One" on Feb. 24, 2011 at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC!
"No One," was totally self-funded (which is one reason why it took a year!) We worked on a shoestring budget but we never sacrificed our vision. And we are so excited that our hard work (mostly Sarah's waitress tips) has gone into something we feel very proud of. It's a labor of love and we can't wait to release it!
We want to share this album with not only our immediate community but we feel it is worthy of international attention! That's why we booked our own tour spanning from Maine to Texas (the rest of the world awaits for a later date!) We partnered up with our friends "The Rex Complex," pooled our contacts and did this thing without the help of any booking agent or third party. We will not wait for someone or something to "discover" us - we're taking it upon ourselves to get Railbird and The Rex Complex on the map. But if we can't raise the money, we can't go. And there is no limit to what your donation will do for us.

We set our goal at $3,000 because according to our calculations (picture the voice of the scientist from The Simpsons)
1. Our van gets 14 miles to the gallon.
Average $3 per gallon (leave out NY)
Traveling - 6000 miles
We need somewhere around $1400 for gas + Tolls
Split that w/ The Rex Complex and we're around $700
2. Four people each get $10 a day for food
25 days on the road = $1000
3. We have some floors to crash on along the way, but there will be a few times where we will need lodging.
at $60 a night + 6 nights
= $360 + tips for the room cleaners (because we're nice) round it up to $400
4. About $700 is needed for band members to pay their rent / bills for the month of March.
So, we're up to around $2700
But we also need some promotion around the new release too. $300 will go toward printing nice high quality posters to advertise our shows and we're hoping it may take a little damage off getting some on-line promo (although that runs pretty high these days.) And we still haven't included stuff like parking lot fees, wear and tear on the van, guitar/bass strings, etc.
Anything you can contribute will be put to good use! Please check out our prizes over on the right. We put a lot of thought into them, and we hope they will find their way into your lives.
We really couldn't do this stuff without YOU, people who support the arts.
THANKS!
