I just want to say thanks to everyone who pledged--the campaign may not have worked out, but I really appreciate the support of everybody who tried to back it. It means a lot that you were willing to throw your cash behind a weird game that maybe didn't have the hype or history of other projects here, but which matters to me.
The future of Gnilley is now a question mark. I won't be able to defer paying work for the immediate future to continue working on it in the idea's current form, especially with all the additional licenses and expenses this campaign was meant to cover. When I'm finished with my current project (keep an eye on http://noplumbers.com in a month or so) I'll take another look at the concept and see what's possible.
Kelsey: I'm sure you're right! It was a conscious choice to try and be informative and not hype-y for the main video, since I figured the gameplay video had the excitement part covered. Evidently a mistake. Another big problem was the launch date, which unfortunately meant the press writeups started happening right on April 1st: the worst day to ever announce anything, and really made it tough to get momentum. I don't know if I'll be relaunching, but probably not since the goal was already on the low end of possibility and we didn't get anywhere close. But if I do I'll keep what I've learned here in mind. Cheers dude.

I am really disappointed this didn't get funded. I guess when people say to support indie gaming on Kickstarter they only mean the games that make them feel nostalgic and not the indie games that actually want to be innovative.
I'm donating on your website regardless, as I'm hoping you still get a chance to make the game at some point in the future.

Sadness. :(
If you restart the project (and I hope you do!), I agree that the video should be less informative and more entertaining — right now, the presentation from the game jam is more engaging than the actual project video, which kinda drags on for too long.
I think augmenting the existing video with YELLING INSTEAD OF TALKING, BRIGHT COLORS, and SUPERFLUOUS ENTHUSIASM would already be a big improvement.
These are good examples to aspire to: http://www.kickstarter.com/blog/2011-the-videos
The thing is, if your video is entertaining enough for people to share on its own merits, more eyeballs will find their way to the project page.

This sounds like the perfect date night game. Get together with your special someone and yell at the computer.
Creator Xpgamer7 on April 16, 2012
At the current time it doesn't look like you'll get the funding. That said this probably won't be a game I think will advance the medium, but one I really want to help exist. If this doesn't pan out try again with a slightly less ambitious goal, work in spare time and just go for it. I really hope you succeed regardless of whether this does because it's great.

Huh, good question. Probably another $15 per shirt... maybe a bit less. People interested can just email me directly. But stay tuned, there'll be another shirts-related update soon and I'll get the details in there.
Creator Muneera Mak on April 3, 2012
Plz leave the middle tshirt alone! It's the one I want :-) so what if we want all three tshirts? How much should we pledge?
Creator Carolina! & Kyron! on April 1, 2012
I laughed so hard at the clips of it being played at the presentation. I can't wait to play test that in public.
Creator Toby Walker on April 1, 2012
T-Shirts are nice, although the middle one looks like some kind of pixelated playboy bunny! ^_^

THE REWARDS ARE FINE! :D
imo, it's the video. See, as much as yours is very informative and such, it's pretty much THE tool for 'selling' the game to people who haven't heard of it. It needs more energy!
I'm thinking that if you SHOW people just how excited you are to be creating this game, they'll be far more likely to throw their cash at you in the hopes they can be just as excited! :D
Good luck with this, and I'll be upping my pledge in a fortnight. ;)
Creator Muneera Mak on April 1, 2012
Yay! Poster and Tshirts! :D Thank you Thank you!
Creator Muneera Mak on March 31, 2012
Looking forward to the game, but like Tatham mentioned, more interesting awards are more attractive :) Good luck!
Creator Radix on March 31, 2012
Good call. I'm trying to figure out more rewards -- I'm worried about large physical things like shirts though, because the postage from Australia will probably be prohibitive -- but if anyone has any ideas you can get in touch with at phenex@gmail.com
Creator Tatham Johnson on March 30, 2012
Stoked that you're finally gonna make this into a whole game! Can I suggest some more rewards though? Things like shirts or signed art are more appealing to me than the opportunity to spend time I don't have making levels for the game :)
