T-shirt designs!

Update #5 · Jun 27, 2012 · 38 comments

Hi friends,

If you've backed Howler at a level that gets you a special edition t-shirt, this update is for you. (And if you haven't, there's still time to get one!) Grace and Robert have developed two designs and we hope you'll agree they're both great. One is a little more traditional, the other a bit more fun.

Option one: "Pong"

Option two: "The Goalkeeper"

Once the Kickstarter campaign closes, we'll be sending out a survey in which you'll get to vote on the design you like best, and we'll produce the one that proves more popular. In the meantime, we'd love to know what you think in the comments section below.

Thanks,

The Howler Team

Pong me, please. Now the whole world's a critic, and I don't love either design. But I'd be happy with an OK t-shirt and a killer magazine. Focus your time on the latter and kick the t-shirt out the door!

I actually don't think that either designs are very good. A t-shirt needs to be a killer design. yes Pong is gimmicky, but not that good either. it's spread way too much across the width of the shirt. I think you should come up with more alternatives. t-shirt design is just as tricky as magazine design.

      #3 - 100%
      #1 - 90%
      #2 - 50%

T1 is much more subtle, so easily wins over T2 for me.
The colour explosion of the mooted T3 though would tip the balance.

#3! The full color Howler logo is so beautiful. I like 'em all though.

I like #1. The 2nd one seems uninspired. The 1st one is more of a conversation starter.

#1, crème fraîche. I'm not a big fan of numbered T-shirts as per the second option.

#2 gets my vote, and I'm an old-school gamer. Agreed with previous comments about different color schemes.

    14. Fb_profile_picture.small

Creator Rowland Mayor on June 28, 2012

Goalkeeper, but I agree should be more colorful. I can't figure out what pong (though I was raised on pong) has to do with anything about a soccer magazine.

    15. Backpiece6.small

      Creator E. Houde on June 28, 2012

I like the pong one. The use of Kickstarter green was a nice touch.

#3 with more colors and retro stripe wrapping! I'd be happy to pony up a premium for the full color version!

    17. Fb_profile_picture.small

Creator Philip Sun on June 28, 2012

      Actually after reading above:

      "Adam Spangler
I like number 3, the white shirt with multi-color Howler logo with the retro font/stripes wrapping under the sleeve.."

That would be really dope. Make us pledge more if your worried about those colors costing too much!

    18. Fb_profile_picture.small

Creator Philip Sun on June 28, 2012

If the goalkeeper one could have the actual colors from your logo, that would be pretty dope. Or if thats not an option because of pricing, maybe the goalkeeper shirt, but with the pong color scheme.

    19. Missing_small

      Creator Andy S. on June 28, 2012

I love both, but it'd be sick if the Goalie one was a little more colorful, then i'd definitely say that one is the winner here, so excited about the magazine!

Creator The Panters on June 27, 2012

#1 and I consulted my college soccer playing son and he agrees. Here are my reasons to support #1, first it has the year, a ball, the logo, great color combo and it is uniquely old-school using the "pong" idea. In FLA one of the training techniques used in youth soccer particularly is soccer tennis and this design encompasses that as well. #2 looks like a tee shirt "jersey" with nothing special or unique other than the logo, it looks like every other (usually cheap) tee shirt jersey design.

    21. Missing_small

Creator Jeffery Ess on June 27, 2012

I was hoping for just a simple logo.

I agree with Lawrence. The pong t seems like it should be the goaltender jersey. It's diffinately more flamboyant.

    22. Missing_small

Creator Laurance Allen on June 27, 2012

Pong is the better of the two designs IMHO.
Odd because the keeper's shirt is nearly always more flamboyant than that of the rest of the team

    23. Picture%20114.small

Creator Patrick Lusk on June 27, 2012

Yet another +1 for design #2 with color scheme #1 (if possible).

    24. Dizzy.small

Creator Emma Hickey on June 27, 2012

I'm backed at t-shirt level and vote for the second/goalkeeper design. But it doesn't matter a great deal to me to be honest - I wouldn't want redesigns of t-shirts or tote bags to take away from efforts to get issue one out. Cheers!

    28. Missing_small

Creator Kingsley Spencer on June 27, 2012

Agreed, #3 ^^^ would be great. But to be on point I'd say the goalie's kit version wins. Pong just doesn't commemorate the launch at all (to me at least).

    29. Missing_small

Creator Adam Spangler on June 27, 2012

I like number 3, the white shirt with multi-color Howler logo with the retro font/stripes wrapping under the sleeve..

    30. Jacob_cristobal.small

Creator JACOB CRISTOBAL on June 27, 2012

My vote goes to number 2. I'm with Carlos in that if it can use the colors of number 1 (or at least have the option for either color combination) that'd be super.

    31. Rob_sutherland.small

Creator Rob Sutherland on June 27, 2012

Heck, I know I'm a dork - my wife tells me regularly - but i like #1. Pong also fits solidly in the "American" camp. Pong is Tennis based, but hey, I still really like it.

    32. Fb_profile_picture.small

Creator Jerry Jimenez on June 27, 2012

Definitely #2! And I agree with Carlos that it will be awesome with the #1 colors but either way, #2 All the way!

Creator Frits Kouwenhoven on June 27, 2012

please let me know how I can increase my $50 pledge to include the T Shirt. I like option 2 with the colors of Option 1

    34. Cz-retro.small

Creator Carlos on June 27, 2012

My vote is "The Goalkeeper". It'd be great number two with the colors of number one. Is that possible? If not, it's all good.

Creator Brian LaPan on June 27, 2012

#2 for me, but since this is an American take (writers/audience) on futbol I'd like something that represents that on the kit. Maybe an eagle on the sleeve.
