Update #16: The calendars are in!
Update #15: Calendar arrival
Update #14: We did it!!!
What a great way to start November!
We made our goal with 76 awesome backers and a grand total of $3,070.
Thank you for all your pledges, pledge INCREASES (wow!), Facebook shares, tweets and overall support. It's not just an expression when I say we never could have done this without you!
Over the next two weeks I'll be collecting address and t-shirt information while we wrap up the calendar design and get them printed and shipped.
We hope that those of you in the area will join us for a calendar release party - Friday November 18th at Altered Esthetics, from 6pm-midnight. (1224 Quincy Street NE, Minneapolis MN 55418) No cover, refreshments and snacks - and the calendar hot off the press. :)
On behalf of the Ae board, volunteers, artists, thank you again for making this calendar possible!
Sincerely,
Jamie
Update #13: Happy Halloween!
We hope everybody has a Halloween chock full of treats and absolutely no tricks!
We're less than $800 away now and will be doing everything we can to push us to the finish line. Tweets, Facebook updates, emails, phone calls and more - we're serious!
We wanted to use this update to call attention to our two one-day exhibits.
The Coloring Outside the Lines Children's Art Show is an opportunity for kids to engage with art, and usually features activities and games. It's a mix of art by kids, and art kids would appreciate! Last year's theme was "Dinos, Puppets and Forts" and this year's theme is "Monster's Under My Bed." Beryl Brenner will be featured in an inset on the calendar with her work "Paranoid Heart With Hole."
Every year on November 2nd, we host a Día de los Muertos celebration, to commemorate loved ones lost. It's a very meaningful process for those of us at Ae and in the community, and has become an annual tradition for us. For the 2012 show and calendar, artist Teresa Murphy illustrates this with her work "El Día De Los Muertos."
You're invited to celebrate with us - this year and next! The 2011 Día celebration will be this Wednesday at Altered Esthetics.
Did we mention that all of our shows are free to the public? =D You support all of these events with your pledges to the Calendar project, and the Ae board and community we serve is very, very grateful!
Update #12: December - Family Closet
Happy Day-Before-Halloween everybody!
We're currently at $2,150 - just $850 away from our goal. We've gotten over $500 in pledges within 36 hours before... can we do it? All my fingers are crossed. (Which is making this update very, very hard to type. ;) )
Thank you for your continued excitement about this project - we at Ae are all very excited as well and couldn't be more grateful for all your support and enthusiasm.
In the month of December we'll host the show titled- "Family Closet."
Memories of family experience, whether calming or unsettling, often remain hidden. These works shed light on the mysterious, dark, or humorous family secrets that have been locked away.
Julie Sirek illustrates this theme with her installation "A Family Matter."
