About this project

Altered Esthetics is a nonprofit art gallery and arts organization located in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District. Our annual exhibition schedule provides gallery opportunity for hundreds of artists and free arts experience to the public.

We are trying to put together a calendar of artists and artwork, creating a beautifully printed calendar for the 2012 year.

Altered Esthetics is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit, so donations are tax deductible! Help us support artists and creative opportunities by printing copies of a 2012 Art Calendar!

FAQ

  • The artwork for the calendar has already been submitted, but you are welcome and encouraged to submit to any of the 2012 group shows! A complete list of shows for 2012 can be found at:

  • Funds for this project are going directly towards calendar printing costs. Any amount raised above our goal will go to printing extra calendars (as needed) and funding our nonprofit services: group and solo exhibition opportunities, artist workshops, and our internship program.

  • In addition to all major US Holidays, the calendar will include Altered Esthetics':

    - Open call deadlines

    - Artist discussions

    - Workshops

  • Trick question! Altered Esthetics has no paid staff. We are entirely volunteer driven, with a working board of 20 active members and a variety of open committees.

  • Through a series of creative brainstorming processes, Altered Esthetics' Group Exhibitions Committee creates a themed exhibition schedule for the upcoming year. The Featured Artist Contest takes place during the summer, a completely free contest open to artists all across the country (and potentially the world!)

After submissions are received, they are compiled and reviewed anonymously by committee members.  Each entry is evaluated for its quality as an intriguing stand-alone image and its ability to represent the essence of each exhibition. Artwork is then voted on in a democratic process. The winning images are featured on each page of the calendar, in press releases and postcards, with each artist receiving favored placement in the show.
