The Public Herald’s mission is to empower the voices of community who face challenging conditions through engaging investigative journalism and multimedia projects. We are focused on accountability where voices are silenced by the abuse of power from government, industry, social or environmental circumstances.
The Public Herald, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit investigative news organization recognized by the IRS.
Triple Divide is created by Joshua Pribanic and Melissa Troutman, co-founders of The Public Herald. Read more about them on the Public Herald's website.
"If everyone had the same spirit as The Public Herald more great reporting would be funded." David Cohn (creator of Spot.us, now part of American Public Media)
In the late 1900's, a nuclear waste dump was proposed in this same area. A Required "sighting" was prevented by local citizens by physically blocking access to the proposed area. Some citizens were armed...eventually, the project moved elsewhere and the triple divide was saved from the dangers of nuclear waste.
