Connected as Andrew Madinc (412 friends)
Psychotica, formed in 1994 by Pat Briggs (also of Impotent Sea Snakes/co-creator of Makeup and Squeezebox) and Paul "ENA" Kostabi (also of White Zombie and Youth Gone Mad), were a seminal influence in Industrial Goth, releasing 3 albums to mixed reviews and varied success.
Psychotica's fame peaked in 1996 with an appearance on the bill at Lollapalooza with Soundgarden, Ramones, Screaming Trees and Metallica.
In 1998 they released the album Espina and added guitarist Clint Walsh, and toured with Jack Off Jill and Switchblade Symphony. Shortly after the tour, Briggs moved to Los Angeles, he and Kostabi went in different directions and Psychotica disbanded.
In the summer of 2009 Briggs and Kostabi reunited and began working on the fourth Psychotica album (a release date has not yet been announced). Psychotica has also partnered with Christian Menses and his independent record label and music community The Toxic Shock Project / Toxic Shock Records to re-release "Pandemic".
2010 Psychotica Toured With My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult.
2011 First Album in over 10 years and a East Coast tour and to Finish Documentary by Jonathan Kugall.
OK. Some real and positive updates. Talked with Christian Menses. Producer/bassist for Psychotica now. He said it has been rather slow given the band members live far from one another and have other obligations... but hopes to speed things up some and would like to see something released in the summer and get some shows in as well. He also intends to get a proper website going for the band so updates are easier and direct.
"I am not trying to disrespect fans. I was asked to hold on to the money, because they have been working on something...I am sure news will be soon" -Drew
I've sent another message to Andrew Madinc both through KS and Facebook. We'll see... next I'm contacting Paul and the gang on Facebook.
Disbanding is unfortunate enough, but promising refunds and not doing it... is this really how they want to be remembered? I've been a fan of theirs for well over a decade, so this really stings. It's not about the money--it's about respecting their own fans. Truly disappointed.
Thanks for the update bile. Hopefully this still happens. Still not sure why the person behind this fund raising hasn't been giving updates.
I spoke with Paul at the Don Hill show in NYC... he said they are still working on things. I mentioned people are concerned and want updates but it may have fallen on deaf ears. :-/
It's been 3+ months since your last update & 6+ months since they money was collected... Should we assume you're not going to return people's money?
?? What's going on?
Disbanded? That was a short lived reunion. Makes me sad.
To all whom contributed.
Sorry for this long circumstance, I am waiting on the money to be able to send back to everyone (minus kickstarter fees) and thank you to all whom have waited. ENA has given me ok to send everything back, and he gives his apologies to everyone. Anyone whom still wants his print for the price you paid please let me know etc.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH EVERYONE
Psychotica: Disbanded
Any updates?
Ian Thomas, If you are a booker I have your email and will speak to you soon about having Psychotica play again on the west coast. There are some things in the works, but silence until they are "ironed" out. thank you to everyone...and this ship sales in 6 hours!
Drew Madinc.
I finally got a few extra bucks to donate. It's only $25 but I hope it helps. It's well worth getting the CD that I was going to buy anyways. I really wish you guys were coming to Northern California. I had a blast meeting Pat and Paul in SF last time around. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help bring my all time favorite band to Northern California, especially the Sacramento area. Have a great tour guys! Can't wait for the new CD and maybe getting to see the documentary someday. I'm sure I made a fool of myself on it.
Can't wait see you in Savannah
sorry it took me so long to help out. if you guys need anything else let me know.
To Mike and anyone inside/outside USA, if Amazon is not asking for address; when this project ends I will be emialing people for that information. Or you can send your Address for CD's etc. to psychoticabooking (at) yahoo.com. Please remember that the Album will not be released until May, so that is when the CD's will be sent out. To Amber! keep your eye on Psychotica facebook and myspace pages, we do updates there regular. Psychotica are playing Atlanta on May 15 at Masquerade
In the kickstarter-amazon mix it never asked for a shipping address, which I'm quite concerned about...as although I have a billing address in the U.S., I live in Germany!! (and therefore contributed a couple bucks more for shipping....)
When the album is made, etc, will you be asking for shipping addresses?
Hey guys, I look forward to hearing your new stuff, and hope you guys make it back to ATL. The world needs your music to save it from the current trendy rut it has found it self in :-)
Thank you everyone! Spain we should be hitting you later this year
Hey! I love the way you play and sing! A salute from Spain.
Amazing band. I'm sad they won't be stopping by the west coast, but hey, this may call for a road trip! Thanks to Jonathan, Andrew and the rest of the crew for keeping this band rawking! Can't wait for new tunes (and how awesome is it to be listed as a financial backer on the liner notes of the next lp?!) Support the band that supports you. Cheers!
I look forward to that possible Jacksonville FL gig.
We've blown past the half way mark and should be complete quite soon?
Alexis Contact (me) Drew Madinc. at psychoticabooking@yahoo.com and I can update you and we can find a way for you to see Psychotica soon.
Please come to Vancouver or at least Seattle again. s a chance I could fly to LA to see you again as well, but the closer to Vancouver the better! Or just somewhere interesting I can find a cheap flight to and a hostel without bedbugs and/or excessive cockroaches.
