CAN WE EXCEED THE GOAL?

This is a question that we’ve been getting asked a lot over the last 24 hours.  Absolutely! $2000 is the minimum amount required to produce this short film.  The higher the budget, the more awesome Dick and Bob will be!

When you set up a Kickstarter, you set a minimum amount to raise for the project to be funded, but this doesn’t mean that additional funds won’t be put to good use as well! 

A higher budget means more (and higher quality) equipment for better sound and lighting.  It also means having more funds to bring our secondary set (Bob’s apartment) to life with set dressing and props.

If we get to $2500, we’ll be able to hire a professional sound designer to bring our sound quality to the highest level, guaranteeing us the best quality sound possible.  If we get to $2700, we’ll be able to afford the ideal lighting rentals for the shoot, and if we raise $3000, we’ll be able to submit to every festival that we want to attend.

WHAT’S THE DEAL?


This Kickstarter campaign will fund the production of the short film “Dick & Bob”. It's an original heist comedy, but at heart it's really about the friendship of two guys.

“Dick & Bob” will also be the jumping off point for our production company, Project Films – with two more projects to be completed by year's end.

WHAT’S THE FILM ABOUT?


Here's the logline: Two bumbling crooks try to knock over an Asian BBQ joint, but end up having an existential crisis.

Dick & Bob are friends, partners in crime and – unfortunately – the worst crooks in history. Tired of petty theft, Bob is ready to take their operation to the next level, and has an Asian BBQ set as their next target. Dick doesn't care much for crime, but he’ll do anything for his best friend...in the world.

WHAT DO WE NEED MONEY FOR?

The great thing about Project Films is that we have a lot of talent and resources in house to bring this film to life. However, even though we'll be working with volunteers and getting a lot for free, we need a budget for the following:

  • PRODUCTION DESIGN. We need to bring the world of this movie to life. That means having the resources to purchase props and furniture to dress the locations and costumes that help give these characters dimension. We also have to build a very special prop that's used at the end of the movie. Stay tuned for more on this...
  • LOCATION FEES. We were able to secure the perfect location to shoot this movie – in fact, it's the diner that inspired the film. We need to be able to pay for the rental of the space, parking fees & insurance.
  • CATERING. We're working with an entirely volunteer cast & crew – including professional actors who only get paid if this film ever makes money. We'd really like to keep our team fed and hydrated – and you can help!
  • MUSIC. The sound and music of a film can really make the difference we need to get this movie accepted into festivals. You can help us hire professional composers to create an original score and make “Dick & Bob” sound incredible.
  • MARKETING & PROMOTION. This film is intended for a festival run. That means we'll submit it to major festivals around the country (which costs money) and once it is accepted, we'll use your donated dollars to help us pay for prints of posters, postcards and ads.
  • EQUIPMENT RENTAL. Fortunately, we own most of our equipment. However, we'd like to be able to rent some additional lenses, lighting and special grip equipment.

WHAT’S THE TIMELINE FOR THIS PROJECT?

Right now we're in pre-production. Our shoot dates are locked for early August and postproduction will likely take a few months for completion.
