Professor Chocolate is creating a line of guide books dedicated to helping you find the best chocolate in cities around the world!
It took us 5 years to produce and publish the downtown edition of The Ultimate Guide to Finding Chocolate in NYC. We did everything from the ground up and learned along the way. We are trying to raise money to complete:
1) the uptown edition for NYC
2) the NYC hot chocolate guide
3) the revision of the downtown guide for NYC
We are also trying to raise money to help publicize the books while we are off from our teaching jobs during the Summer. It is perhaps the most critical aspect of publishing and the one where most self-publishers fall short. This will enable us to sell enough copies to begin work on our next book, which will be a chocolate guide book written for one of the following locations: Paris, Brussels, Barcelona, San Francisco or Tokyo.
For the original book, we crashed 2 personal computers with book files; took 90% of our photographs with a 4 megapixel camera using the timer feature; and spent a good part of five years working after school and on the weekends to complete the job. With the Kickstarter funds, we would like to invest in and purchase things that we will actually use to produce and publish our upcoming books. This will include:
1) a new computer equipped with Adobe Creative Suite
2) a new DSLR camera (with 10 second timer..haha)
3) booth promotion materials for expo shows, signings and sales events
4) business cards and promotional postcards
5) a down payment on Smart Car, which will be wrapped in our branding and will function as the city's first (mini) chocolate truck. We will make deliveries and sell books at outdoor markets with it.
6) the production of a number of press kits and official press releases along with the purchase of mailing supplies, and review copies of the books
7) chocolate! We always buy the chocolate we write about out of pocket. Between us, we've spent almost as much as the amount we are asking for on chocolate alone over the past 5 years
