The Intruder is an alien being of unknown power. During the course of the game the Intruder will move through the space station as both the hunter and the hunted. One or more players must cope with a monster that moves rapidly and changes continuously as it undergoes metamorphosis into a more powerful being, and possibly divides into two or more clones.

The game includes 54 counters representing the crew and their weapons, lab animals (which confuse the search) and the Intruder. The playing map shows in detail the interior of deep space station 'Prometheus'. The map also contains special charts to record the development of the Intruder.

Hidden Intruder is an exciting game of terror and suspense for one to two players. Hidden Intruder is a reskin of the old Classic game, Intruder. Dennis Sustare, designer of Intruder, has agreed to let me reprint his game with this new art. 

The game will come with all new art, not the art pictured. Done by the same artist as the games below, all the art and rules will be fully redone. The art pictured is simply for the promo shot of the game to give you an idea of the parts to scale.

"Hidden Intruder Basic" - A 22" by 17" paper map in a ziploc bag with counters and rules. (Add $15 to your pledge to get this!)

"Hidden Intruder Regular" - A 22" by 17" mounted map in a box with counters and rules. (Add $25 to your pledge to get this!)

"Hidden Intruder Deluxe" - A 22" by 17" mounted map in a box with fully stickered wood blocks for the counters and rules. (Add $35 to your pledge to get this!)

Last Frontier: The Vesuvius Incident  is getting a reprint! This old classic is finally getting reprinted. Neal (the designer) contacted me at the beginning of this year about making Last Frontier available again as a POD product. The BGG community was almost unanimous in support of that idea. We started looking at other options and versions, and Neal started pulling all the old files out and booting up his old machines to try to salvage the original files but in  usable format. We eventually decided on 3 versions (Classic, Designer and Deluxe). At that point I decided that this game was awesome enough to get a reskin and be updated to the 21st century. So after asking several artists, I finally got a great guy to work on this project with us. More on him in a later update. :) 

 Right now we have all the old files, so this reprint is exactly that, a straight up reprint (+rulebook clarifications and errata), plus a few bigger and nicer versions of the game. The reprint will be using all the old art and illustrations. But with this kickstarter we are hoping to fund a full new art version, with new art for the game including a full color board and new illustrations for the counters. You can pick whether you want the new art set or the classic set for each copy of the game.

All the Last Frontier Games will include the same components: A Rulebook, 2 pages of Charts, 158 double sided counters, 2 dice, Map(s).

The Artifact games will include: 2 Rulebooks and character sheets, 2 pages of Charts, 300+ double sided counters, 2 dice, 4 sets of Maps.

The Different game editions are exactly the same game, just a different presentation, with different sized counters and maps, or wood blocks for the counters, etc.

Classic Edition - 17" by 22" folded paper map, 1/2" counters

Designer Edition - 3 separate folding boards, 5/8" counters, cloth bag (for drawing counters)
Main Board (24" x 10"), Ring Board (10" x 16"), Marine Tracker Board (10" x 16")

Deluxe Edition - 6 separate boards (some single, some folding), 7/8" colored wood blocks (160), sticker sheets for the blocks, cloth bag.
Deluxe Counter Edition - 7/8" Counters instead of wood blocks
Main Board (31" x 16"), Ring Boards (21" x 8"), Marine Tracker Boards (8" x 10")

Travel Edition Cardstock Boards: Cardstock is simply a heavy paper, not a mounted board. I make the larger folding cardstock boards the same as the other boards, with a piece of folding tape on the back. This allows the board to lay flatter than a single piece of stock with a crease.

Now we are heading towards the stretch goals, where I can make this a cooler project for everyone.

First, now that this is funded, what does that mean? Well, first of all, everyone is going to get their games they pledged for. The art for Last Frontier is now confirmed, and the MAP and COUNTERS will be updated with all new art. I will have some more samples in the next few weeks before the kickstarter ends.
The Artifact uses the same maps and counters, so if you are getting a copy of that, you can also get the new MAP and COUNTERS. All the images you see of the game are using the old B+W map and counters.

Last Frontier Stretch Goals:
$15,000 - Colored Encounter Bags - You can get your encounter draw bag dyed in yellow, green, purple or black. (Designer/Deluxe versions)

& Rules posted!

$20,000 - Color rulebook with new illustrations and examples. Currently we are using the original rulebook (with all the clarifications and errata added). But if we can hit this stretch goal, the rulebook will be redesigned by the artist, with new color illustrations and overall a clearer rulebook

$25,000 - Invasion of the Feynman alternate scenario- 34 new counters, 1 alternate shuttle board, 1 scenario sheet. The scenario is freely available online, but it plays much nicer with these extra counters. This will fund the art for these extra counters. The scenario starts out before the aliens came on board. You can definitely use the scenario rules with the game, but it uses many counters as "proxies" for other counters.

The Artifact Stretch Goals:

$15,000 - Rules will  be posted!

$25,000 - New Art for the revised counters for The Artifact. This means that instead of using various oddball not-matching-quite counters from Last Frontier for The Artifact, all "The Artifact" games will include these new counters. (For instance the Fake Artifact counter won't be the "Weapon breaks" counter.)

$30,000 - Full redesign of the judge rulebook foldout and character sheets, so they are easier to read and follow and have all the info in one place, rather than spread out in the Last Frontier rulebook. The Artifact comes with the original game rules and character sheets. This will allow me to make a proper rulebook for The Artifact so it will be easier to play/read the rules for The Artifact.

Take command of a team of 12 heavily armed Marines as they board a crippled lab ship in a decaying orbit. Rescue the surviving crew, but beware of malevolent alien intruders, escaped lab animals, berserk robots and a sabotaged defense system. Work fast - the controls are smashed and the ship is plummeting towards a fiery end in the atmosphere below. (quote from the original rulebook)

The game is a solitaire wargame, and includes lots of dice rolling and random encounters. Each turn you make the choice whether you want to dash through the ship in combat mode or slowly make your way in Exploration. Aliens might pop up in any new room you encounter, and anyone left alone might disappear in the darkness. Since there are 12 marines, this can easily be played as a 2-4 player co-op game with each player controlling several marines. 

Since this game has already been out for a quite a while, I am not going to spend a lot of time covering gameplay. If you want to get a feel for how gameplay works in greater detail, check out these great resources below:

This intense 4-way blind game for 3 to 8 players was designed by Phil and Matt Eklund, and is really like no other game that you have played. Although nobody is quite sure who the other players are, possible sides include the mad scientist, space pirates, the phone company, and an alien who could be anything from a zombie army to Hal 9000.

Phil Eklund has given me the rights to re-release this game in combination with Last Frontier. Phil is a pretty cool guy, I emailed and said I was doing this kickstarter for Last Frontier, and could I print this up, as it was a great companion/expansion game for Last Frontier, and he got back to me within 10 minutes, and said "Sure, sounds great, here are the files". 

Right now The Artifact will be a straight reprint with the B+W character sheets and judge foldout sheet. It uses many of the counters from Last Frontier in odd ways just so they didn't have to make another counter sheet or add more art. The Artifact game levels will include a set of counters for Last Frontier, and a special set of counters to make it easier to play The Artifact.

However, if we reach our stretch goals for The Artifact (see stretch goals below), we will be adding NEW counter illustrations just for The Artifact, so you can play it even better! This will mean you have to use the new art for the game though. The special counter set will then be updated to these new counters if you choose the new art version. (For instance the Fake Artifact counter won't be the "Weapon breaks" counter.)

Why is The Artifact in this kickstarter for Last Frontier? 

This game uses pieces from Last Frontier, and a few more rules and character sheets. You need 4 maps, a minimum of 2 sets of counters, the Last Frontier Rules and Charts, and The Artifact Character Sheets & Rules. So it is really a "companion" game to Last Frontier in many ways.

Because the format is four way blind, and the players are uncertain of each other's motives, the fog of war is a formidable obstacle in this new gaming genre.

The action takes place on a space warehouse at the edge of an un-navigable region of the Galaxy known as the Coal Sack. The mad scientist in charge of the facility is trying to sell the Artifact, an alien navigational buoy, to space pirates. The scientist wins if he completes the deal while keeping his illegal activities secret from the Phone Company, who has a couple of agents on board the station somewhere.

Victory for the Phone Company depends upon who their secret employers are. His agents may be just innocent employees here to fix the phone lines, they may be working for a rival Museum, or they may work for the Government or private agencies.

The Pirate Captain's motives are more transparent; he needs to get the Artifact by trade, artifice, or force. Even with his overwhelming firepower, this is not easy. One of his men may be a government informant. The Artifact may not be all it seems. Loss of contact with his men may mean they have turned against him, or alien bugs have laid eggs on their disemboweled remains. A clank outside may signal imminent explosive decompression, or just a sailmaker robot on the outside hull doing its job.

Aliens may or may not be on board; their nature is unknown. The ship's computer may or may not be a sentient character working with its own victory conditions. One's partner may be a trusted companion or a shapeshifting fiend in disguise. The ship's security system, robots, and self-destruct countdown may be puppets for unknown agencies.

The Artifact is a gripping drama, full of surprises and mayhem. No two games are alike, full of sabotage, sneak suits, bluster, kamikaze aliens, EMP and plasma guns, booby traps, hacking, and the prospect of the space station being blown up bit by bit by pirate cannon. The action never falters until the last lifeboat is away, the final alias revealed, and the last storeroom explored.

Basic Gameplay: 

Each player is assigned a side, and then chooses forces and equipment. Each side then places counters on their own map, which should be hidden from the other players. In order each player will take a turn. The judge will pass on telegrams (characters lost/regained control of) and results of combat from other player's turns. Then each character can take one action. Some of the actions: Move, Fire, OP Fire, Security Action, Pick up Item, Heal, Put on Suit, Use Code Key, Alien Special Action, Special Skill. Depending on which characters were picked, the victory conditions will vary depending on which actual characters are in play.

All games from Print & Play Productions are Made in the USA, and are hand made, rather than on a machine. This allows me to offer so many different versions without spending the money for retooling costs or print runs of thousands. This also means that there may be some slight irregularities in your game. However, I have been doing this for years, and I have gotten a lot of great feedback for my various products:

Shipping is expensive. Especially so internationally. I wish I could hand deliver all your packages, but we looked at the numbers, and it just isn't going to fly. 

If the pledge level says to "add $__" for shipping, what you need to do is click on the pledge you want, and then in the next screen, add that amount to the total, without changing the pledge level.

Then add up the totals of the games you want from below, using the same technique as adding for extra shipping (After clicking your pledge level, add in the appropriate amount to the total without changing the pledge level).

At the end of the project, I will ask you what you pledged for. If you didn't get anything extra, then it should be easy. But if you added additional games (you backed at a higher amount than your pledge level), I will use a survey at the end to see what extras you got, what custom names you want, etc.

I'm sure you all want to know how soon it will take to get your stuff. I have dates on the rewards, and those should be fairly accurate. 

I have given the artist 3 months to complete the art. He might complete it much sooner than that though. After that, I estimate it will take 4-6 weeks for construction for everything.

I plan to wait as long as I can, to let you guys see the new art, before you have to choose whether you want the original art or the new art. 

I will not be shipping ANY orders for this game outside of kickstarter until ALL kickstarter packages have been shipped.
