About this project

the Project Overview

Most artists are without the time, money, knowledge or resources to establish an effective online web presence. In order to remedy this, we are in the process of developing a web application and portfolio management system, Postmedium, to serve as a platform through which artists can update their online portfolios, add new content and images, and take ownership of their online properties once the portfolios have been launched.

In this way, artists and organizations have complete control over their online space, and are able to keep pace (online) with their ever evolving projects. We will also provide custom designed artist portfolios with support and hosting, handling all technical aspects of getting their work online.

We believe that local artists and organizations presently lack the online resources to be competitive amongst a public who increasingly uses the web to discover new ideas and new art in a city in which the focus on contemporary art continues to grow at a rapid pace.

our Request for Funding

We wish to further develop Postmedium to allow for any and all visual artists and organizations in the New Orleans area to have an opportunity to have a free portfolio of their work available online, quickly and easily. We are requesting funding for the development of an online cloud system to provide these portfolios.

We will evaluate its success and progress by tracking the number of artists who request online spaces, the public response and online users of said spaces, user feedback via an online suggestion forms, internal assessment of application functionality, roundtable discussions with artists and users, and workshop demonstrations on how to use the service.

We are requesting $1,600 from the Community to cover Operational costs of Dedicated Cloud Hosting for one-year to house our artists.

Upon receiving funding, we would be able to develop an online working cloud-system model, near the end of Spring, which we would then open our virtual doors to anyone who wishes to use the system.
