When one just isn't enough... bring on the 'Seconds!'
After a tremendously successful first season, San Francisco’s Post:Ballet returns to the stage with its sophomore full-evening concert, ‘Seconds.’
Post:Ballet was founded in 2009 by Artistic Director Robert Dekkers to inspire a new generation of audiences. The company is pushing artistic and technical boundaries with multidisciplinary works that challenge stereotypes of what classical dance is and who it speaks to. Integrating dance with other art forms- including photography, cinematography, digital media and visual artistry- ‘Seconds’ will further the creative and collaborative energy that Dekkers and his company are cultivating in the Bay Area and beyond.
The concert will include the World Premiere of ‘Colouring,’ a vivid exploration of the creative process featuring live painting ( Enrique Quintero ), photography ( Natalia Perez ), dance (Post:Ballet dance artists ) and music
( Daniel Berkman ).
A reprise of Dekkers’ 2010 work ‘The Happiness of Pursuit’ will also be presented, featuring live music by Bay Area composer Jacob Wolkenhauer and musician Joe Hickey. ‘Seconds’ will also reveal Dekkers’ current project: a new work that explores the effect observation has on our subconscious behavior, featuring live cinematography.
Post:Ballet is dedicated to bringing sophisticated, multidisciplinary works to a new generation of audiences… but we need your support! The funds raised through our 2011 Kickstarter Project will support Post:Ballet’s incredible dance artists, many of who come to San Francisco from around the country to create and perform our unique collaborations. These artists push themselves to extremes- physically, emotionally, and mentally- and are truly the cornerstone of Post:Ballet’s eclectic repertory.
Donate through our Kickstarter Project today and receive one of our cool rewards… like an official Post:Ballet t-shirt (printed on American Apparel), a signed copy of the 2011 DANCE Magazine featuring Post:Ballet director Robert Dekkers as a ‘25 to Watch’ artist, a Post:Ballet poster signed by the dance artists of the company, or even a DVD of ‘Seconds’ with a personalized message from the Artistic Director!
Thank you for supporting creativity and expression for a new generation! Make sure you check back here regularly for updates, look for us on YouTube, and don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest!
