'the romantic' - print run of a poetry book to sell on a reading tour of the east coast

I want to make small print run of a poetry book entitled 'the romantic' to sell during a poetry tour of the East Coast with Steve Roggenbuck in August 2011, which will in turn finance the tour. The book will feature cover design by graphic designer and artist Drew Tetz in the form of a photograph of a paper sculpture of the author.

'the romantic' is approximately 10,000 words and covers such themes as loneliness, alienation, ambiguous homoeroticism, technology, cocks, and the difficulty of expressing romantic love in a worldview defined by existentialism, determinism, and rationality.

Steve and I believe in self-publishing, DIY, and self-promotion as means for authors to have complete control over their works, creatively and financially. That's how the whole tour is going to work. So if I hit the bare minimum funding goal, it'll all go into the print run of 150 copies. If I get more, depending on demand, I'll either increase the size of this print run or pour the money back into the tour in other ways.

This will be the only official print run of 'the romantic' as, unless I'm miraculously picked up by a major publisher who wants to reprint it, I will only offer the book through Print-On-Demand and ebook services after this print run is finished.

SOME OF PONCHO'S POETRY

REVIEWS OF 'the romantic':

"'The Romantic' feels like a whole work, by which I mean I felt satisfied at the end of it, like I had spent some time in another person's head, and he had tried to show me many of his thoughts and feelings, including the painful ones and the ones that are hard to express." - Stephen Tully Dierks, editor of Pop Serial

"It feels like Poncho Peligroso knows something we don't. It's clear that Poncho Peligroso is writing about things we all know but aren't comfortable saying. It seems as though Poncho Peligroso is sitting at home in his robe and comfy slippers, shouting, "You mad bastards", with his hands. I would say that I'm speechless from his writing, but that's not true, because all his words fill me up with more words and I want my words to multiply and outstrip his words, but most likely that's not possible." - Helen Mahar

"Some of these poems pulled on me, in completely unexpected manners. It is a beautiful feeling to read someone else’s thoughts and completely identify with them or to feel yourself being moved in a way that you had not expected. Ah! This is why writing is such a grand thing, and conversely, reading another human’s writing is the greatest insight into their mind and experiences." - Aaron Steely

"While other authors I’d read would speak only close-enough to my own feelings and understandings of people, Poncho was the first writer to ever get almost uncomfortably real and dance a funny jig with my past and recurring thoughts. Reading the romantic is truly a fantastic way of speaking to yourself with the words of another who knows your all-in-your-head struggle." - Philip Gyro Psomopoulos

"his face is symmetrical which is a sign of beauty i guess but it scares me." - andrew worthington

Strangely, nothing. Donate exactly $75 and I will thank you, and then ask why you chose to donate the exact amount required for me not to give you anything but for you to lose a nice dinner's worth of money. Later, when drunk, I will joke about you with my friends.
