It's looking like this one won't be funded. It's interesting to look at this one and compare it to a couple of other projects, specifically Open Locksport (http://kck.st/bjNcQf) and Ubertooth One (http://kck.st/eHDyCg). Both of those projects were funded multiple times over so, what did they do differently?

The biggest difference I can see is they provided something tangible for a relatively small price while this project requires $500. This project also does not give you anything to build off of, you get a PlugBot or you don't, but both other projects allow you to get CAD drawings or a circuit board to build from. The final thing is Jeremiah told me that the final PlugBot hardware costs $300 to manufacture, that's a 66% profit once you purchase the product, I don't know but it seems like the other two products have a smaller profit margin.

I didn't understand your comment on not being released as open source. All I can really say is look on the main page where it says that this is open source. TakeDownCon organizers are expecting me to release it there as well. I think they would be very disappointed if I did not do as I set out to do since Day 1.

Oops, my post was truncated... I also said that PlugBot is not made up of hardware only. It's the custom code and the mobile hardware that makes it unique.

David, uffda! Yes my company has paid for the domain name and other minor expenses. But the goal here was to raise funds to make a bulk purchase that would enable a cheaper price (hardware) and have the manufacturer pre-load software m not really sure what else to say on that.

      Hope that clears things up!

Oh, and "Patient Pending" just really pisses me off. Means that you have no intention of releasing any of this into the community.

This is a really lame kick starter project, as he has corporate sponsor ship. Boo! Just go buy a shiva plug, don't get caught up in the hype. Lame.

I do remember sending you an email about getting this project listed on kickstarter, it's great to see this here :)

Looks interesting. Is the hardware also going to be open sourced?

Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately you're missing the point. PlugBot is not just hardware. It's both custom code and hardware. The combination of the two you will not find anywhere.

Again, you can buy similar hardware but you will not find PlugBot anywhere else.
