About this project

QUICK FACT: PlugBot software will be released for free under open source licensing. Hardware, of course, is purchased separately. It will be made available through the PlugBot site (soon...) or through a your own preferred manufacturer. Details will follow immediately after the Kickstarter campaign has ended.

What is PlugBot? PlugBot is an open source, ultra-compact hardware botnet proof-of-concept & highly mobile penetration testing device. The hardware consists of a tiny computer about the size of a power adapter. It's this small size and extreme portability that allows it to go physically undetected when deployed at the target location. Meanwhile, PlugBot comes pre-installed with popular security tools and the capability to add your own on the fly. Every PlugBot, aka "Bot," is remotely controlled and centrally managed through a web-based interface (Command & Control).

Why PlugBot? PlugBot aims to challenge technical as well as physical security. When social engineering scenarios like "USB drives left in the parking lot" FAIL and uncooperative receptionists WIN, PlugBot aims at evading AV/Firewall detection, greatly reducing face-to-face social engineering interaction and providing a compact/mobile set of tools that allows an ethical hacker to covertly infiltrate and dynamically hack the target from the inside out. A note on the legality PlugBot is not illegal to own or operate. For those not familiar with information security, there are hundreds upon hundreds of security tools that ethical hackers use on a daily basis to measure and improve the security posture at their organizations. But there is only one PlugBot!

How will Kickstarter funds be used? We've invested hundreds of hours turning knobs, flipping switches and pulling levers during the initial development of PlugBot. Now we're ready to go prime time. But where we need help is raising enough money for the hardware manufacturer to produce PlugBot on a wider scale. And by a "wider scale" we mean more than one at a time! So again, our goal is to raise enough money to place a bulk order into our manufacturer.

Here's how we will benefit:

* Manufacturer will pre-load PlugBot software! * PlugBot can be made available in larger quantities! * Manufacturer will build hardware to our specifications * We will get bulk order discounts that will be passed down to customers * PlugBot orders will go out the door much sooner (currently estimated at a 3-month wait time!) Huh? A PlugBot what? Still not sure what exactly PlugBot is? Have a looksee at one of the PlugBot Video demos that we put together. Some Features Include * Open source code! * Remotely control all PlugBots through a single web interface * Hack using your favorite tools, such as: nmap and Metasploit * Remotely install your own Perl or Python scripts on the fly * Traverses egress firewall rules * Tool output can be saved locally or uploaded to the web interface * Hack over multiple interfaces, such as: Ethernet, Bluetooth and Wifi * View statistics and logs for Bot health and diagnostic purposes * Ultra compact form factor aids in stealthy concealment * 1.2 GHz processor, Onboard RAM, Debian, Perl, PHP, Python, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, Wifi * Remote killswitch capabilities T-shirt Reward This is a picture of our PlugBot T-shirt. All of the cool kids are wearing one...
