We recently designed a new sculpture, Peep Show, located in one of 33 vacant storefronts on Granby St. in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. From May 1 to July 1, 24 hours a day, the storefronts on Granby St. are transforming the city’s downtown into one massive public gallery, as a part of an incredible public arts initiative called Art | Everywhere.
Peep Show is a large form of twelve colorful pyramidal shapes, called Peeps, stacked and fastened together to make a wall of mountainous ‘Peep’ holes that anyone can look into. The goal is to offer someone what they might not normally see, something that makes them smile.
Peep Show has been meticulously put together by a team of professionals at Precision Sheet Metal in Chesapeake, Virginia. There are 4 different sized Peep forms, 3 each, whose templates are plasma cut from sheets of 22 gauge galvanized metal, bent into shape, joined at the seams, and coated in four different colors. They are then stacked and fastened inside a rigid frame that sits in the storefront window. For detailed drawings of Peep Show, please download the PDF.
Peep Show was expensive to produce, so PlayLab is hoping to alleviate some of the costs here on Kickstarter. As incentive, there are multiple Peep Show ephemera available, including the actual metal Peeps from the show.

$1 - A call from the Office and a link on the donors page.
$5 - A downloadable template to build your own Peep Show.
$10 - A 16 page, 5” x 7” Peep Show small book.
$25 - A 5 color hand silkscreened Peep Show poster.
$100-$250 - Small to X-Large Peeps, from the actual Peep Show. After being fully peeped, they will be disassembled and hopefully move into their new homes around the globe. Disclaimer: photos are of scale models. The real Peeps are metal.
$2,000 - Custom Peep Show, designed, built and installed in your town.
Projects like Peep Show will undoubtedly continue to happen at PlayLab, but with the excitement and support of others, the projects can grow larger, and we can hopefully make more people happy in the process, including ourselves.
