I... kinda never got my book in the mail. I kinda thought maybe the shipping was slow. I never got it.
Creator Thomas James Egan on September 25, 2012
The curse the darkness Our Last Best Hope play set is amazing. I haven't had a chance to run it yet, but I plan to soon.
Creator Bob Smith on September 17, 2012
Sweeet. You'll also like to hear, I was telling a kid at the FLGS about our session of curse the darkness at Gencon (He had asked about games that werent D&D, as he is really new to RPGs in general). He bought a copy from DriveThru, and the other day was raving to me about how great the game is!
You reached a complete noob and showed him there is more than just D&D in the world that is worth playing, and you got him early, congrats!
Creator Matthew McFarland on September 17, 2012
Bob: It's written, yep. Last I heard, Mark was laying it out to look all nice and stuff.
Creator Bob Smith on September 16, 2012
Hi Matt, I was wondering if the Our Last Best Hope playset has been written yet?
Creator Jason Christopher Faught on August 23, 2012
When you have the time, please give us an update about how Gencon went for you.
Creator Recruittons on July 6, 2012
So, around 1am last night, I was a little drunk, trying to fall asleep, when I got a flash of an idea. The Candle painting I did came out very well ( http://i.imgur.com/PHLzu.jpg… ), so how would The Symbol look on canvas? A little over an hour-and-a-half later, here was the result http://i.imgur.com/dCIxY.jpg

Congratulations to the both of you! I'm amazingly excited for this. Now we just need you both to come out to Seattle for games again!

Creator Nigel Sade on June 7, 2012
congrats man!!
Creator Recruittons on June 7, 2012
Congratulations! I do hope you'll keep in touch with we backers, Matthew. This is certainly an exciting project, and if there is a place where we can see it coming together over the next couple of months, I think many of us would love to follow along!
Creator Miguel Duran on June 7, 2012
Congratulations!
Creator Recruittons on June 6, 2012
< 2 hours to go! Let's see if we can hit $12,000 :D
Creator Recruittons on June 6, 2012
Awesome! I can't wait to see all the included materials finished :D
Creator Matthew McFarland on June 6, 2012
@Jerry: You can see approximately what the cards will look like if you watch the video (not the one on the front page, this one: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/playattentiongames/curse-the-darkness-a-roleplaying-game/posts/236339). The other stuff doesn't exist yet. I have to order it in bulk, and to do that I need the money from the Kickstarter.
That said, as I get the elements for the Kit, I will totally post pictures here so y'all can see how it all comes together. :)
Creator Recruittons on June 6, 2012
Any chance of getting some pictures of the items included in the Kit? I'd love to see what the bags, point tokens and card decks look like!
Creator Matthew McFarland on June 6, 2012
We're getting them printed through Custom Playing Cards. Paper card stock, plastic coated. They should hold up pretty well, I think.
Thanks for backing! :)
Creator Nick Clift on June 5, 2012
Love this project glad to be a backer. I am interested in upgrading to the kit mostly because I like the idea of the candle/symbol decks. I'd be interested in using them for normal card games though too, and that can really tear up a deck quick. If you don't mind me asking who are you getting them printed through? or more generally what stock at you using for them?
Creator Recruittons on June 4, 2012
Companion stretch goal met! Congratulations on the success, Matthew, and congratulations to we backers for the new book :D
Creator Matthew McFarland on June 4, 2012
I really don't know yet. That will be based on page count and what kind of art we get, and some of *that* will depend on our final total. Too early to say. As soon as I know some numbers, though, I will let everyone know.
Creator Recruittons on June 4, 2012
If I might be so bold, what kind of pricing were you thinking for the POD anthology and companion? I'm a broke college student and father, so if I am going to buy them, it's always best to know what to expect in advance so I can prepare.
Creator Kairam Ahmed Hamdan on June 4, 2012
Usually backers that get printed copies of the original rewards also get printed copies of the stretch goals.
Creator Recruittons on June 3, 2012
I had a feeling the books would be a bit much to ask as gratis, but it never hurts to ask! Our Last Best Hope was doing something similar, but you had to be above $50 to get the physical copy of the book. However, I have no problems with a separate purchase, regardless of discount. This game is exactly my cup of tea and I want to support it's development :D
Creator Thomas James Egan on June 3, 2012
I had a feeling that printed versions of the Anthology and Companion might be a little much to ask for, but didn't want to speak out of turn and assume. When they become available on POD, I will definitely order a Companion, discounted or otherwise.
Creator Recruittons on June 3, 2012
Hey, if I could get them at a discount, consider them bought! The anthology, in particular, interests me. Stories set in the world in which I'll be playing is an incredible boon as a newcomer to the world. Thanks for the quick answer!
Creator Matthew McFarland on June 3, 2012
Welcome Jerry!
I think what's going to wind up happening is that backers are going to get both books on pdf, and if they want them on POD they'll need to buy them. Unfortunately, I badly underestimated how much shipping and printing were going to cost me, and it's eating into the Kickstarter money quite a bit. Unless we experience a really dramatic jump in the next three days, I don't think I'll have the money necessary to give all the backers print copies of the anthology and the companion (assuming we even make $10K) for free. A discounting price, though, is very possible.
More info as I have it, and thanks for backing us! :)
Creator Recruittons on June 3, 2012
Definitely. I found this project completely by accident today when someone mentioned this kickstarter in passing. When I found out that Matt was the creator, my WoD fanboy buttons were pressed and I just had to kick into this thing. This is going to be excellent!
Creator Thomas James Egan on June 3, 2012
@Jerry that is a good question, and something that will probably be answered soon. It is great to see that we are so close to raising $10,000 for this project with 3 days left to pledge.
Creator Recruittons on June 3, 2012
I have a question about the stretch goals. Specifically, the anthology and companion books. Are the backers receiving these as ebooks or as physically copies? Perhaps those pledging for the Kit and above get physical copies, and below that get PDF copies? Just curious about how they will be disseminated. Thank you! And I'm incredibly excited about this project!
Creator Schaeffer Tolliver on May 29, 2012
Sounds great! Now to think up some graffiti that my friends and past game groups would recognize...
Creator Thomas James Egan on May 25, 2012
It is probably right in front of me, but is there a way to add additional kits to pledge levels? And if so, how much extra per kit?
Creator Matthew McFarland on May 19, 2012
Scenarios aren't going in the book, so the time on them isn't quite as crucial, but I'm happy to discuss it anytime you want. :)
Creator Matthew McFarland on May 19, 2012

Creator Jason Christopher Faught on May 19, 2012
Well, I have a scenario in mind. Do we have to wait until the end of the kickstarter, or can we get in contact about it before then?
Creator Matthew McFarland on May 14, 2012
Cross-pollination is good! Thanks, Jason!
Creator Jason Christopher Faught on May 14, 2012
Fellow gamers, as a humble attempt at cross promotion, I have shared the link to this project with a couple of other projects I am funding.

Sweet. :)
Creator Kasper Hermansen on May 9, 2012
Ofcourse Matthew! Once I read through the rules and find a suitable group, i'll let you know how it went. I might even turn the session into a mini story, if you want :).
Creator Matthew McFarland on May 9, 2012
Awesome, Kasper! If you do wind up running a game, could I ask you to do a quick write-up of how it goes that I could post on the cursethedarkness.net site?
Creator Kasper Hermansen on May 9, 2012
This is looking great!. I'm a new player to WoD (both new and old), and this looks down right amazing!.
The card system is what got me interrested at first, and i'll be looking at the playtest packet soon, and hopefully get a group together to play-test it. Shouldn't be a problem getting some of the local RPG people to back this awesome project as well :)
Creator Matthew McFarland on May 9, 2012
Yep, Rokea was my first solo project. Still love the sharks. :)
Creator Jason Christopher Faught on May 9, 2012
Well, I went looking through my collection of oWoD books and I found your name!
Rokea and Black Furies.
Creator Matthew McFarland on May 8, 2012
Well, we'd definitely appreciate the word-spreading. :)
Creator Thomas James Egan on May 8, 2012
No, thank you sir. After all the years playing WoD (preferred Dark Ages and Victorian Age), its the least I could do. Just have to spread the word now.
Creator Matthew McFarland on May 8, 2012
Thank you kindly, sir. :)
Creator Thomas James Egan on May 8, 2012
Being able to back a project like this is an honor and a privilege.
Creator Jason Christopher Faught on May 5, 2012
"Them"... *Shudders in fear* Nothing quite so scary as the unknown... Oh man, my imagination is already going wild here. "What are 'they', can they be captured, talked to, reasoned with? Are they living things, shades, demons... Argh!" *Falls down and goes mad* "C'thulu Ftagn! *Insane giggling*
Creator Matthew McFarland on May 5, 2012
The Between is like the Umbra insofar as it's a realm apart from the physical world, but it doesn't have topography or features the way the Umbra does. And the spirits of the Umbra are a lot more diverse - and, in general, friendly - than Them.
Creator Jason Christopher Faught on May 5, 2012
So, I'm guessing that the 'between' is sort of like the umbra?
I'm really going to dig this game.
