The teams from Bangladesh and Indonesia call in to chat
Today on the Planet Money podcast, we talk on the phone with Robert and Jess in Indonesia and Zoe and Caitlin in Bangladesh. Robert and Jess describe their visit to the factory where our cotton was spun into the yarn used to make our t-shirt. One fun fact: that one factory, in one day, makes enough yarn to circle the planet 24 times.
Also, Zoe and Caitlin give their initial impressions of Chittagong, Bangladesh, where our t-shirts are cut and sewn. Eighty percent of Bangladesh's exports are apparel. A local journalist described Chittagong to Caitlin and Zoe as "the tailor shop to the world."
