I am probably done with kickstarter projects if this is the sort of behavior of the projects.

I've emailed you guys twice already and no response back. Either cancel my order and give my money back or send me the Styli. I Funded $58 one. You guys have Black and Red Ready. Just send me 2 of each please.

You should be honest with your backers, sounds like you owe them at least that.

I still have not received my estylo. The delivery estimate was for December 24th. It is now May 30th. This is completely UNACCEPTABLE.

I just got message from Plai that my black Estylo has been shiped!
Let's wait and I will post update if/when I receive my Estylo finally.

Sent in a message a few days ago to the Plai team asking for a full refund. They replied this morning saying that they have black estylos ready to ship and if I'd like to settle for that (instead of my preferred colour of blue) they would ship immediately. I replied that my preference is for a full refund. Plai wrote back straight away saying they are not doing refunds and they would ship a black stylus today.

My advice to all of you: write the Plai team stating your disappointment and ask for a black estylo. At least then you'll have something in your hands to show for your pledge. Clearly you are never going to get your money back.

Maybe we should all band together and request the personal information of the project creator from kickstarter...

I suggest you make an update on Kickstarter telling about your progress, right now its just hundreds of disgruntled backers w/o any word from you guys.

Kickstarter is about trust. If you break your promise, you're not just screwing the backers, but other genuine projects that won't be backed because projects like yours made it dangerous to do so.

I am a lot more reluctant in backing any other kickstarter project after all this.

it's terrible that kickstarter as a fund raising platform has no recourse for us as subscribers.

@screaminglulu..i have no idea unless they have just given up. Knowing a little about production, after purchasing materials, sanders, paint and the equipment, paying employees, magnets, packaging, shipping , ( even what they did accomplish) ....... amongst many other things involved in bringing a product to life, there may not be a whole lot of cash to dissappear with....could be wrong, but it adds up very quickly. Guess i am giving them the benifit of the doubt, still a raw deal for those who didnt receive.

Interesting that they've also gone very quiet on their Facebook page... perhaps they've disappeared somewhere secret, suffering from sheer embarrassment. Or more likely done a runner with our money.

I truly feel saddened and foolish now for believing. If only they would continue to post something. I pledged pretty early and at a level more than I felt comfortable with as they were to be gifts...*sigh*

Trebor and others, while this kickstarter project didnt turn out well for some, i have had two, others that turned out awesome! Adonit Jot and the Sensu brush. The Sensu had delays and issues, but they pulled through in the end. I think its safe to say that you are taking a risk in backing a kickstarter project and some turn out and some do not. You are taking a chance that it might not turn out....when you back the project, the product itself has not been made. ( at least not in mass quantities) which does change everything.....I stll love my Estylo and would be happy to purchase more, but clearly they are having problems and i feel bad for those who did not receive theirs. I honestly dont think they set out to swindle people. If that were the case, they would not have bothered to produce any at all. I think they got in over their head and now dont know what to do. ..at least thats my two cents worth

I got the same exact response back from Kickstarter as well.

Kickstarter answer:

Sorry to hear you’re having a bad experience. Obviously communicating with backers is a crucial part of running a Kickstarter. We emphasize the importance of this to creators every chance we get, but still it’s up to them to post Project Updates and respond to comments and messages.

Kickstarter cannot issue refunds as all transactions are between creators and backers. If you wish, you can write the creator and request a refund. Creators aren’t obligated to issue refunds when a backer asks.

The fulfillment of a project is the sole responsibility of its creator, but what happens in our community is important to us. Thanks for letting us know.

What to say then goodby Kickstarter and I will not return again....

I also warned Kickstarter today about Plai fraudelent behaviour and asking Estylo shipment or full money refound.

Kickstarter needs to do something about as othervise there is no sense for all of us to be backers anymore if they can't protect us from such illegal actions.......

Few things I have learned.
1. Plai does not have to give it's backers a refund
2. Kickstarter cannot force a refund from Plai

@Sam I tried using the Amazon fraud function. Problem is, they won't accept complaints on transactions older than 105 days, which is long gone.

I guess the system assumes that if you buy something, you should react before 3 months have passed. With Kickstarter that will rarely work as the items needs to be developed and manufactured first...

Its a brand new world, new experiences to be made!

@screaminglulu, you would have been better off to send yours to me, at least i would have sent you a thank you note and paid for shipping. FYI , I am one of their strongest supporters ( there arent many of us i fear) and i wrote to them wanting to purchase a second one, they dont respond to my emails either.

@sammendez, Kickstarter cant help with a refund it seems but if enough of us complain to them they might do something. I have contacted them.
I think we need to all get together to report Plai for illegal fraudulent behaviour.

Wandick, yes, lots have gotten theirs, and while their are many complaints, i love mine and it works perfectly. I dont know why yours are being held up, but i hope when you receive it, you will be as pleased as i am.

I placed my order back in Dec last year and I've been writing to Plai ever since news of shipments began to surface. I've not heard a single word from them, let alone receive the stylus itself.

What is happening, this is extremely disappointing. It has been months, last reply I've got from Plai was 2 months ago. I'm disappointed in kickstarter for doing absolutely nothing.

Took in about $34K after fees, spent about $1000 on junk and another $500 on postage and made a quick $32,500.00 and ran away.

Unbelievable... so many complaints, so little response. They have my stick of wood but havent refunded me. Wonder what the legal aspect of this is. Any lawyers on board?

I dont think that i will get a good stylus this year. I guess that these guys working very hard but on the end they will completly fail. So only 25$ are gone and not more.

I emailed kickstarter, in short, they have no policy implemented to deal with transactions between the backers and the projects. They expect the project creators to be honest and truthful. And a backer may request a refund from the project creator but the project creator is not obligated to issue a refund.

Kickstarter cannot help nor can do anything to prevent or force plai to comply with its pledges and backers.

STILL WAITING - I am patiently waiting for my stylus but based on the feedback, I should ask for a refund before it ever gets delivered

i would get a refund...not digging the estylo at all. it requires a precise angle even though the tip is covered with the conductive material. i'm selling mine if anyone wants it.
