Help Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre, a student-run theatre company in central Illinois, raise $800 to provide the technical designs of our first fully produced Fall 2011 season.

What is Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre?

Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre is a 90 seat black box theatre located near Millikin University in Decatur, IL. With the creation of the new B.F.A Theatre Administration degree in the Department of Theatre & Dance, the faculty began to wonder how they could give students a "hands-on" approach to running a theatre; Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre was then generously donated to the students to run as a company and to produce the work we want to see.

All of our work is done by the students and entirely on a volunteer basis. Each individual student is required to do a minimum of 36 “lab hours” for the semester for those enrolled in the Entrepreneurship: Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre course. However, anyone who is interested in volunteering with us is highly encouraged and welcomed.

In the past, students have utilized our space to create the work they wanted to see: whether it be original or published work. In the Spring 2011 season we had both original and published works. In addition we took on the task of producing our first production: an original work titled Affinity.

What do we want to DO?

In order to continue to pursue our artistic and production qualities, we decided that the Fall 2011 Season would be entirely produced by Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre. This means that we need to fund every aspect of each show from set design and construction, costuming the casts, lighting equipment rentals, maintenance to the space, etc.  

Affinity cost us nearly $400 to produce and we need your help to produce our Fall 2011 season. We need to raise $800 in order to produce the technical designs for two of our four productions in our Fall 2011 season. 

Students at Millikin University pursuing degrees in theatre are designing the technical aspects of our season. These designs include costumes, lighting, set design, props, etc.

• Careful What You Wish For by Nic Belanger (a student at Millikin University)
