Just as a mini-update:
Last week, we were told we would be able to ship on May 28th.
Today, our manufacturer estimates May 30th.
We'll see what happens when May 30th rolls around, but at least there's some (excruciatingly slow) progress.
Hey,
We've had to order a load of new cases, and are waiting for more information from the factory re: how long it's going to take...
Haje: Do you have any news on the case issues and/or shipping of the units ? Been playing around with the Triggertrap APP but it seems to me that I need the dongle to get the full experience ;-)
When making molded part you need to specify a Draft angle for the part. The draft angle ensures that a part is slightly wider on the open end. This allows the part to be removed from the mold easier and it also allows for shrinkage during cooling. Your drawing didn't show a draft angle so the manufacturer probably didn't include one. I hope this info helps on your next endeavor.
Update #17 makes me a sad panda. I hope you guys get it sorted out sooner rather than later. I know there is a lot of them but something like Whitney's suggestion sounds like it might be the best way to go.
Man, you guys have the worst luck. I had hoped to use TT for an event in June, but I may do a DIY solution myself. Unfortunately a shipping delay probably won't help your relations with Paypal (unless the triggertrap mobile indicates that you are shipping real products). Good luck.
Haje: You may want to have F-Stoppers print a correction in their most recent blog posting about the new IOS app with the announcement of this new delay. They claim you've been making Trigger traps for some time now. It could come back to haunt later since in reality none have shipped.
after reading your "Project Update #17" and being a fabricator and prototyper myself, I might suggest you try heating the casings in an oven set to about 170 F to no more then 250 F... if the casings are simply over-bent as you describe ( the tops narrower then the bottoms) you may be able to get them to relax enough to be useful... keep an eye on them during this process, at that relatively low temp the softening will be slow and gradual... then I would dip them in a pan of cool water to set the shape you like... with a little rigging you could arrange pockets in a grid of MDF (medium density fiberboard, hard wood composite at most big box stores)... placing the casings in the pockets and heating the whole thing until they all relax to fit the pockets would save you some time allowing you to do them in batches... if all you need is a slight change in shape, then I'd say you have a really good chance of salvaging them... once you find the right temp for your specific material/part shape, you'll find it goes rather quickly and easily... good luck -Whitney
I would also like to know what "shipping is imminent" means.
gentlemen! could i humbly petition you for a more well-defined timeline of "shipping is imminent"? the annular solar eclipse is buzzing through my neck of the woods, and i would *LOVE* to use the TT to capture a time-lapse series.
much gratitude for your dedication and hard work for this effort!
More about the Android version: https://triggertrap.com/triggertrap-android/
The vimeo video is available now!
There are plans for an Android version, but we don't have a launch or release date yet.
Good news, now I can use the iphone to control multiple cameras, now I only need to activate them using an arduino and LEDs.(My Sony NEX cameras do not have standard trigger).
Any plans for an Android version of triggertrap mobile? What type of connector is on the dongle?
Yes, the Vimeo video says it is private.
Love the update; wish I could view the vimeo videos, but they appear to be 'private'?
I guess I'll have to wait until the website goes live.
@Peter
I have participated in half dozen projects over the last year. From my experience the time for a project to complete is often at least a year. That just seems about how long it really takes to take a product from design to manufacturing.
Dear Peter,
I refer you to the Kickstarter FAQ, under the heading 'I have not received my reward yet, what do I do': http://j.mp/where-is-my-reward
"Sometimes creators hit unexpected roadblocks, or simply underestimate how much work it takes to complete a project." and "Creators are expected to communicate these setbacks should they happen."
We have been extremely open about the whole process from beginning to end; We've posted 14 updates here on Kickstarter, more than 70 posts on our blog (see Triggertrap.com), and we have created a mailing list to keep our pre-order customers and backers informed (which I note you have not subscribed to).
Don't get me wrong, I completely understand where you are coming from - this is frustrating to all of us. I am sad that you don't feel the project is going forward.
But, I am afraid we will have to agree to disagree on a crucial point: You've given up. We haven't. And we won't, until everybody gets their Triggertraps. As such, I will not be issuing refunds: We need the money we have left to ship out the Triggertrap devices to everybody.
~ Haje
I have requested a refund. While I am a firm believer in the Kickstarter plan, and a backer of several other projects, this one does not really seem to be moving forward and after 8 months I have given up.
Haje;
I'm not sure if this is of any help but there is a kickstarter project Mini-12c OLED looking for funding of what looks to be a two line OLED display.
With your difficulties in getting displays maybe this is a golden opportunity to marry the two projects.
You need displays they have a project for displays.
Chris
oooh HDR mode on that other device is pretty nifty. Is the chip in the ready-built device still programmable and can the device be taken apart and put back together? Seems like this feature wouldn't be to hard to add into the code.
So besides the fancy display why is that better than trigger trap?
For those that can afford it, here's a not-so-similar product on Kickstarter, Timelapse+
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/elijahparker/timelapse-powerful-features-brilliant-timelapse
I like redundancy, having both products to me will be a plus.
Millie,
The website and the latest update says early april!
I'm sorry when do you think you will be shipping the trigger trap?
That's the only update that concerns me.
Cheers
Millie
Gary,
Seems like the website is the best place to go! It has the most recent update (jan 24)
There are a few different places to find information about trigger trap (twitter, facebook, http://triggertrap.com/, kickstarter). Is the most current information about ship dates, project status, etc found on triggertrap.com?
To all who read my comments below please take them as the result of my own spiraling bad mood from many situations completely unrelated to Trigger Trap or even photography. I took it out on Trigger Trap when I read of the latest delay. In reality the delay won't be so bad to me in the grand scheme of things. My apologies. If I could delete the entire thread I would or would not care if Trigger Trap did so.
Dear mr Catlett:
Thank you for summarising the situation, and for sharing your thoughts with us. I completely understand your desire to receive a Triggertrap as quickly as possible, and I share your frustrations about the repeated delays.
Whilst I take issue with some of the libellous statement in your comment, I am willing to write them off as heat-of-the-moment passion. I am glad that the Triggertrap has driven you to such passion, and believe me when I say that, at Triggertrap Towers, we definitely share that passion.
I would like your permission to reproduce your comment in full over in Triggertrap.com, where I would be more than happy to explain in detail.
Thank you,
Team Triggertrap
Mark: http://triggertrap.com/2011/12/27/automatic-hdr-timelapse/ :)
~Haje
Mark: That would certainly be a possibility! You'd have to code it in, of course, but eminently doable!
Here's a cool thought - HDR + timelapse.
Could I program the TT to take 3 shots for every "pulse" or timer-interval? I'm sure the answer is yes...
Awsome news. Thank you so much for all your hard work in making the TT the best possible. I'm really looking forward to experimenting with it. Having the code on github ... absolutely awsome. You are the best !
Thank you Michael! The most recent update has just been posted to Updates, here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/photocritic/trigger-trap-the-universal-camera-trigger/posts
There has been a survey... you can check the column to the right (in the box with your pledge level) to see how you answered the questions.
There hasn't been a survey sent out yet, right? I skimmed through some blog post about shipping about a bunch of cables. I recently moved so I'm hoping that I didn't get anything sent to the wrong address.
There have been several recent updates on the project website: http://triggertrap.com/ . I just posted a comment there asking them to do an update here as well.
Any progress in the past month?
Looks like I'll might be receiving in time to use it for capturing the collision between two snowballs...
Like I said before. I prefer to receive a working TT instead of semi finished product. So, good luck and thanks for all your effort making it the best product possible !
Hi there guys!
Thank you for your questions, we've just posted an update re: shipping times etc on our Updates page.
Cheers,
~Haje
I received my connector cable today. Is there any news on the shipping of the actual units?
Hi,
we received one of your books today Haje (we backed at the $499 range) but it doesn't appear to be signed as per the pledge commitment? Probably just an honest oversight but if you could look into this for us.
Phil
The Usual Shutter Specs
Hey.. I am wondering if you have any updates on the TT ? I find it remarkable how everyone is very patient with this project compared to some other projects that I am backing :-)
Haje, any updates? I just finished putting together a sound trigger last week. Connected the battery, and...nothing. Obviously I am not cut out for putting this stuff together myself.
While we patiently wait...
...BTW, if I run my Canon in Mirror lockup mode (so the camera doesn't jitter as the shutter clicks) the timer needs to send two shutter triggers, one a half second behind the other, I would like to be able to program that in. Also I think you said there will be an external output (for flash or something) I want it to send a command to a servo controller to allow automated pan or track.
Wow, I guess like many people we compartmentalize things, and I had forgotten you were in London. I hope you and yours survived ok, and your city and country soon will return to normal. I can just imagine what you've gone through, since my family were in the middle of race riots in 1968, and it was an unpleasant time.
Money sent!
Thanks!
I did send out all the e-mails, very odd. Let me see if I can find the e-mail and re-send it (alternatively, if you paypal $5 to consulting@kamps.org, we're square!)
I forgot to add the shipping cost. And i ticked the checkbox in the form to get an email how i could add the money for the shipping cost, but i have not got it yet?
