Thanks so much for supporting Bench! It has been a slow start but we are gaining traction and we are getting there. This week we are going to be focusing on asking local businesses to support Bench at the 50 and 100 dollar levels were they will be able to advertise in the space. If you know any local businesses that would be interested in this at all let me know an we will send them a letter. Or if you know someone who owns, operates, or influences a local business go ahead and talk to them. Since you have already supported Bench your voice is the strongest one we have. I've been asked recently to speak at a couple Neighborhood Association Meetings in some historic districts in Midtown Omaha. This is a exciting opportunity to get the word about Bench and our Kickstarter Campaign out to the people that Bench will serve. In addition to just providing a space and equipment we are going to offer training classes to teach specific skills and to work on projects from start to finish. This will provide homeowners with an opportunity to work on making improvements to their homes. It is exciting to be able to get the word out to the folks that live in Minne Lusa and Field Club.
It was mentioned to me that we may not have been very clear with what exactly Bench is. I am sorry about that. So far Bench is only an idea. I have been letting people come into my workshop to use the space and to learn new skills for a while but in order to open this to the public we will need some more equipment. That is what this campaign is all about.
Bench will be the perfect place for anyone with a DIY project, a hobby, or anyone wanting to learn wood and metal working. If there is any project you are working on and don't have the equipment, space or skill set to complete the project chances are Bench is perfect for you. And you can use Bench for an hour a day or a weekend. Our tentative pricing is $10/hour $30/day or $50/weekend. If you want to use Bench on a more regular basis we will also offer seriously discounted monthly memberships.
We plan to have a comprehensive offering of woodworking equipment and hand tools as well as select metal working tools.
