Gabe Schray Reveals His First Original Song for "The Bubble"

Update #11 · Jan 8, 2012 · comment

It's nice to have really talented friends.

I always use Gabe Schray's music when editing a film.  Whether it's my first documentary "Sincerely, PV Reese", a short piece about a rally that my wife organized, or even when editing the work my film students do, Gabe's music always sneaks in there.

For my first feature length documentary I really wanted Gabe to do the original score and the song used in this promo is the first track on what is sure to be an amazing soundtrack.

Thank you, Gabe.  For more info on his amazing work, be sure to visit http://actualarchives.com/

For now, I am done shooting interviews, the long editing process is ahead.  The hope is to have some sort of rough cut together by the spring, but hard drive space is getting tight and the necessity to back up what has swelled to over 2 terabytes of footage has driven me to sleepless paranoia.  If you, or someone you know, is still interested in contributing to the post-production budget for the film, please check out the Paypal donation section on my website http://dearmothman.com/

Another great thanks to Gabe Schray and a continuing thanks to all of you that have made this project such a success.  Talk to you soon.

Back to Reality After 10 Days Under the Bubble

Update #10 · Dec 2, 2011 · comment

The trip is over, but the work is far from done.

Cinematographer, Joe Spit and I returned from Celebration on November 20th and I now have over 100 hours of footage including more than 20 interviews adding up to 1 Terabyte of data backed up over multiple hard drives.

Upon return, I was greeted by Thanksgiving and then the jolt of returning to work, so editing will have to wait until after the next round of holiday joy, but I hope to have something together by the beginning of the spring.

Another round of thanks to everyone that has supported this project so far.  Some people have contacted me on how they can continue their support or how others could donate to the film now that the Kickstarter is done.  That can be done through this safe and secure Paypal link now available on my website:

The video update here is some time lapse footage that Joe and I shot on our last day in Florida.  Exhausted from journeying into the Bubble for 9 days straight, we ventured deep into the tourist trap of Kissimmee where the juxtaposition between it and the town of Celebration further enhances the intrigue of the town, at least in my mind.

The weather always seems to be perfect under The Bubble.

Over the last few days, Cinematographer Joe Spit and I shot some amazing time lapses to be used in the film.  This is just a sample of what's to come.

Enjoy, more updates to come!

Cinematographer Joe Spit and I took a 6am hot air balloon over Celebration, FL today and it was ridiculous.  Here's a sample of what we saw and just a glimpse at what's to come:

Hot Air Bob

Update #7 · Nov 11, 2011 · comment

Just got the call from Hot Air Bob.

Last week I booked a hot air balloon to take Joe Spit and I over Celebration, where I'll probably be by the time you're reading this.

You can't really control a hot air ballon, the wind just kind of blows it along, so I made a deal with Hot Air Bob to call me a day before what looked like a good forecast.  We had planned for Monday, but he called today.

Tomorrow at 6am, Joe Spit and I will be meeting Hot Air Bob next to a McDonald's and ascending into the heavens, possibly never to return.

I have loved you all, even those I've never met.

Hopefully I'll at least get some good footage while plummeting to my death...

Here's some amateur footage over Celebration, the people who filmed it probably fell to their deaths minutes later:
