Hi folks -
It's been quite a while since my last update, I do apologize. I want to thank you all once again for backing The Irish Light, it's been a major success!
In June this year, I reprinted the book. The initial run which you guys funded was 3,000 copies and we had just about run out. The reprint was for 5,000 copies and the book continues to sell well nationwide, through my gallery, and my website.
Without your support, however, it would never have happened. So once again, thank you!
Now, I wanted to share with you a little news that has me very excited, and I hope will interest you as well. I've started work on my second book!
This will be a different sort of book to The Irish Light. Where that book was a collection of photographs with very little text, this project will feature images and text in equal measure. Each spread will feature a photograph on one page and explanatory text on the facing page.
In dimension it will be very similar to The Irish Light, and will more than likely have the same number of pages (128).
It looks like there'll be roughly 60 photographs in the book at present and the text will go into my motivations behind each photograph, any technical or artistic challenges that needed to be overcome, and will give insight into my photographic process in general.
I believe it will be a book that will appeal to photographers and non-photographers alike as it's as much about the landscape of Ireland as it is a photography book.
My plan is to create a Kickstarter project as before to fund the print run, as well as some professional design work to make the book as beautiful as it can be. Watch this space for developments on that front. I would like the book to be finished and in production fairly early in the New Year, so I'd hope to have the Kickstarter under way in early January.
I hope that you'll join me again on this journey and that we can create this together.
I haven't mentioned a title yet, because I'm still working on one. What do you guys think - any suggestions?
