Here is some background on the innovative and highly effective  Storefronts Seattle Program that selected Pretty Vacant through a competitive process.  

From the Storefronts website:

"Storefronts Seattle activates empty and underutilized commercial spaces with creative use by artists, art groups and art-based businesses.  Storefronts Seattle began in early 2010, when community members from two Seattle neighborhoods sought solutions for the lack of foot traffic, increased public safety issues, and an evident drop in community engagement associated with the growing number of vacant storefronts in the area. The program is part of a national wave of community-driven collaborations between businesses and artists to activate empty spaces and renew economic activity in neighborhoods..."

Perhaps most impressive is this list of metrics that demonstrates success in leasing up empty space, incubating new arts businesses, and curbing public safety issues.

I am so honored that Pretty Vacant will be part of this vibrant, community-based program.
