Penny Arcade Leaderboard Stretch Goal Unlocked! Stretchgoals up to $999k revealed.
It's unbelievable, but the campaign has reached our first funding goal of $250k in four days. We've been blown away by the support thus far, and the interest from people outside the industry makes us think we might be on to something here.
As promised, we are revealing the stretch goals up to $999k ... behold!

The new goals we've revealed are:
- Jerry Cosplay: Jerry has agreed to Cosplay as the character of the community's choice (by vote) for one day at both PAX East 2013 and PAX Prime 2013.
- Strip Search Web Show: Discussed in a flurry of tweets, Penny Arcade: The Series Season 4 will be our version of America's Next Top Webcomic titled... STRIP SEARCH. This incredibly ambitious and expensive production will bring together over 10 up and coming webcomic hopefuls for a week of grueling challenges and horrifying social experiments, hosted by Mike and Jerry. For what? A considerable cash prize and integration into the Penny Arcade offices for one year.
- Twisp & Catsby Children's Book (free online): Mike and Jerry will create and publish online (for free) a Twisp & Catsby Children's Book.
- Original Tabletop Adventure: Mike and Jerry will write a completely original tabletop adventure, not tied to any particular system, to be released for free.
- Free PA Comic Reader developed for iOS and Android
- PA Blanks/Creative Common License: We will release, with each Monday, Wednesday and Friday strip, a blank version of the comic (art without word balloons) for your editing and remixing enjoyment. In addition, we will open the ENTIRE PA archive to a Creative Common License under CC BY-NC-SA.

I think there's one weakness in the otherwise solid set of stretch goals - the Jerry cosplay. I mean, sure, it's funny. But it just doesn't fit. All the other stretch goals fit with your stated goals - give us money so we can free ourselves from ads and use that time to build more content for you. But... $50,000 to have Jerry dress up? That's funny but it just isn't very inspiring.
Otherwise, really looking forward to the stuff this kickstarter will enable. REALLY hoping you'll reach the DLC level.
Creator Alex Huff on July 16, 2012
Backing you guys almost entirely on the idea of the DLC podcast coming back....and because I ve read every comic multiple times.
Creator Thomas James Egan on July 16, 2012
@john a BB app would also be nice, but the app itself would be useful on all platforms not one over the other. And while I may have come off annoyed in my last post, I hold no hostility towards users of other devices. I just don't want to see a fragmentation of the mobile audience. If that means a later release on my device of choice, I'm fine with that. Just as long as there is eventually a release.
Creator john vandyke on July 15, 2012
A balckberry app would be more useful than a windows phone one. But it is a cost/bennefit analyssis that needs to be applied.
Creator Thomas James Egan on July 15, 2012
@john it is those kind of sentiments that hurt WP. Not everyone is fond of IOS or Android, for their own reasons. But it always seems that whenever something interesteting appwise comes out, WP users get the shaft and told they should have bought an IOS or Android device instead of what they have. I, for one, fall into the category of liking neither of the competition and have used IPhone and a Droid.
Creator john vandyke on July 15, 2012
Don't waste time on apps for MS Windows phones.
Let Trey donate 100k if they want one.
Creator starrider1026 on July 15, 2012
I'd say its probably less about payout and more about the fact that less than 10% of the potential mobile audience eve has a windows phone, and most likely less than 10% of those who do are even the slightest bit interested in PA.
Creator Gretyl on July 15, 2012
@ShadowDragon what payout are you expecting from a free app?
Creator daft_inquisitor on July 15, 2012
And in all honesty, I only know a single person with a WP phone. It's just not that entrenched a platform. Supporting iOS and Android is a smart move, since there are just SO MANY of those phones out. WP? The time and energy devoted to an app for it might not be worth the payout. :/
Creator daft_inquisitor on July 15, 2012
Come on guys, we can hit $825k!! I believe in us!!
Creator richard bond on July 14, 2012
What $$$ goal to add Windows Phone in your app reward? Support your local economy guys... :)
Creator Aaron Traas on July 14, 2012
Honestly, more than a comic reader app, I'd prefer a PATV app for Android and iOS, because the viewing experience on Android is terrible on the website. I don't mind the ads, and would be willing to pay for the app.
In fact, if you want me to write the app, please contact me. I'm a software developer.

Bald Slave Leia is now It. It must come to pass.
Creator Sam X on July 14, 2012
Some really great ideas in this--Strip Search, the free Twisp & Catsby and tabletop adventure--I feel like some of this stuff should have been announced earlier to shut up the naysayers. Really exciting stretch goals!
Creator Yousef Syed on July 14, 2012
I'd like to see Jerry cosplay as Cortana...
Creator The JRPG Club on July 14, 2012
I have a funny feeling there's going to be a bald slave Leia at the next PAX.
Creator Adam Casalino on July 14, 2012
The "Strip Search Web Show" sounds really cool.
Creator John Berberich on July 14, 2012
Instead of platform-specific readers, why don't you redesign your site to have a responsive layout?
Creator Thomas James Egan on July 14, 2012
@Tom I second that WP version. I am also really interested in the Tabletop Adventure
Creator Tom Wright on July 14, 2012
Oh no...As much as I love the new goals, May I please ask for a PA reader for Windows Phone? But other than that, Huzzah for reaching the goal! Here's hoping we break some records!
Creator john vandyke on July 14, 2012
OK, I'm upping my pledge: +5 bucks for Catsby & Twisp and +5 bucks for Creative Commons lic.
Creator Daniel Nugent on July 14, 2012
If The Bench makes a comeback as part of the blanks being made available, I am bumping my funding to $100
