I wanted to drop a quick note to my "supporting peeps" from "your guys" here at AM I BROKEN?
I'm so proud to announce that we've reached a critical milestone in the long journey that has been the making of AM I BROKEN?, a film you have supported. We are picture locked and I'm extremely happy to say that we didn't screw it up. :) I knew there was a great story to tell three years ago when we started and our only goal has been to do that story justice. We've done it! We just completed the final version of our rough cut and dare I say it's really good. Shocking, heartwarming, and even funny at times we've created a compelling story that will move the soul and hopefully reach some families in crisis to let them know there is a solution.
For those in the Seattle area I would like to invite you to a special screening on October 20th at the Kirkland Performance Center. This is actually a celebration of the 35th Anniversary of CHILD but we'll be screening AM I BROKEN? for the event and we would like all cast, crew, and supporters to this special occasion. Make your reservations at www.childnow.org/35years . It's a fundraiser for the school and the film but if the economy has you down just drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and I'd be happy to put you on our guest list as a supporter of the film.
Next up is another Kickstarter fundraising campaign to raise the necessary monies to put the finishing touches on the film in the areas of audio and color correction which will bring it up to par for final release. As previous donors, I won't ask you to donate again but maybe you could help spread the word. Our Facebook page www.facebook.com/amibroken has 1,500 new fans that we'll be leveraging for this new campaign. We've already submitted to Sundance and we'll be submitting to festivals across the globe. This next year will be about festivals and finding the right distribution partners so that we can get this out to the widest audience possible. I know we have a good film so let's hope the ball bounces in the right direction so we can meet the goals for the next stages of this project.
For those due to receive a DVD as their reward for support we expect to have those ready by the end of the year after we've done the sound and color correctino. Thanks again for your support!

Hello AIB Sponsors!
Looks like it's been since October since my last update so thought I'd give a shout out to my peeps. Did I sound young when I said that or just nerdy?
Anyhoooooo, the slow wheels of documentary filmmaking have been moving along since my last update. In fact, we are closing in on the finish line and I'm happy to report that things are REALLY looking good. I always knew this project had a lot of potential for a great story and now I can actually see it on the screen. We have done what eludes most filmmakers and told our story well.
This isn't to say that we don't still have a ton of work in front of us because we do. But it's getting really exciting to see the vision come into the light. We will have a rough cut ready by early April with some planned test screenings. First up is a children's mental health conference at the University of Wisconsin in April and then a work in progress screening at the Seattle Documentary Association in May. We plan to lock picture in June and then send it through it's finishing processes for color and sound immediately following. Great news is that one of the best audio mixers in town has stepped up to do our sound mixing for free. Thank you Dave G!
In the meantime, please "like" us on Facebook. Link is below. We have over 800 followers from over 20 countries at the moment. And we haven't even finished this darn thing so I'm pretty jazzed.
That's all for now. Thanks again for making this all possible! We're working hard to make you proud.

Hello AM I BROKEN? Backers,
I wanted to drop a note to let you know where things are as it's been a while since my last communication. We are still in the editing process and we're about half way done. We've had our funding challenges but our editor Graeme believes in the project so much that he has agreed to keep working on the film for free while we rustle up the next round of funding. Which is awesome!! Thanks Graeme!
Just heard from a stranger in Wisconsin who had seen our trailer and relayed the following.
"I work for a small, parent-run nonprofit in Wisconsin that serves families that include children with mental, emotional or behavioral disorders. Each day, we fight for kids with behavioral challenges to be viewed through a new lens. The prevailing hypothesis that kids simply lack the motivation to behave well has resulted in ineffective and even damaging interventions. Knowing my interest in this area, a friend told me about “Am I Broken.” After viewing the trailer on the website, I can’t wait for its release.
Just wanted to drop you a quick note to encourage and thank you for addressing this very important topic."
That's kind of awesome to know that buzz is spreading through the community despite our relatively low profile so far.
We're targeting to be ready with a festival ready rough cut by February 2012. Our next set of deadlines for key film festivals is in June so that should give us plenty of time to get ourselves ready for that phase of the project.
In the meantime, I've just updated the website. www.amibroken.org with current information and videos. I've also re-created our Facebook page and added lots of still photographs from the production. Please check that out and give us a "like". I'll keep updating that page with fresh info as we move along toward our February goal.
As always, thanks for your support for this critical project.
Hello Am I Broken? Backers,
Just a quick update and a new video piece to share.
We've been madly editing since November and inching our way ever closer to a rough cut. We're now at a stage where we know where the gaps are and have been shooting some pick up interviews last week and have a few more to do in the next couple weeks. Things are coming together in a great way and our editor Graeme Lowry has been pouring his heart and soul into the project.
We're going to see where we're at in early March and game plan from there.
In the mean time, we took a short break to create the video for CHILD's annual fundraising luncheon using footage from Am I Broken? Take a look at http://www.vimeo.com/19759799
Thanks again all! This is only possible because of you.
