About this project

Am I Broken? is a feature-length documentary currently in production on location at the Children's Institute for Learning Differences (CHILD). Our cameras are following three teachers for one full school year as they work to solve the intricate mystery of destructive behavioral patterns. With just the right combination of compassion, patience, and brilliant detective work, the teachers begin to help these children and their families find the peace, happiness, and hope for the future that has eluded them so far.

Kate, Dominic, Brianne, and an amazing support staff work with children who suffer from a wide variety of afflictions including sensory processing disorders as well as Autism spectrum issues. The only thing they share in common when they arrive at CHILD's doorstep is the inability to understand themselves, control their behavior, and advance their education in a traditional educational environment. Am I Broken? follows their journey from a hopeless to a hopeful future.

Am I Broken? is currently in production and due to wrap principal photography in July. It is a Hi-Def production with over 400 hours of raw footage that will be shaped into a 90-minute feature-documentary film by an Oscar winning documentary editor. The goal is to premiere at Sundance 2012 and then leverage the piece for a wider outreach program for families whose children may be at similar crossroads.

And here's how you can help create a fantastic project and ultimately help some kids find their way to a fulfilled life. We have raised $68,000 so far and are just $7,000 short of another $25,000 in matching funds.

So this is a mini-campaign. Your dollar will come back three fold in matching funds. This money will allow us to get the project in the can, prepped for final editing, and provide the resources necessary to find a distribution partner to get the widest possible audience and hopefully change the path for some kids who are struggling.
