About this project

Paul Brickman's Like a Lamb to the Slaughter conveys what the fantasy of celebrity and fame perpetuates: mainstream consumerism. The series represents the general public being victims to the proverbial advertisement: they see, they want, they buy; therefore they become a member of the ‘herd’. It's their transformation to the loss of their own individual identities.

Paul's lambs will stare down at us in their debut solo exhibition, opening June 1st. In order to successfully present this show, we need your help. Your donations will go towards the printing, framing, mounting and transporting of Paul's work, bringing Like A Lamb To The Slaughter to it's complete fruition.

In exchange for your generosity, we have several rewards we're offering, in addition to our heartfelt thanks. Different levels of donations will garner signed postcards, series catalogs and larger prints, as well as your name on display as a show contributer at the opening reception on June 1st. For more information about Paul and his work, please click over to www.paulbrickman.com. We hope to see you in June...

Connected as Paul Brickman (1063 friends)

Born and raised in New York City, Paul Brickman took an interest in visual and photographic arts from a very young age. Through his formative years, Brickman began his career in the Arts in music and theater, which would expand into a strong interest of the fabulous urban landscape that surrounded him. Early on, he developed a strong preference toward shooting individuals and candid street scenes of New York life, which were prevalent and familiar in his every day life.

After attending LaGuardia High School of Music, Art, & Performing Arts (known to all as what inspired the motion picture & television series: FAME), as well as the General Studies Program at The School of the International Center of Photography, Paul Brickman began his photographic career with a passion for fashion in all shapes and forms including street, contemporary, and haute couture. The artist built his portfolio from the ground up, working first as a Photographer's Assistant for various artists who specialize in Commercial and Editorial Fashion imagery. He went on to gain more experience Producing, during which he collaborated on various projects for other well know Photographers, Stylists, Models, and Brands.

While beginning his own compendium of work, Brickman actively pursued his artistic interests in using young musicians whom he had grown up with as subjects in his photographs. He actively sought out emerging talent and developed an inspirational body of work that explored the beauty and originality of artists (like himself) following a dream in New York City. Brickman continues to with a vast diversity of young artists from all generes of art, fashion, and music. He manages to not only capture the essence of each of his subjects, but also make each focus stunning in his or her own right.
