Sending soldiers to their next destination with the ultimate souvenir from their time here in SA: 12 months of real San Antonio women.
What's the point?
Patty Lou's Pinups is a pinup themed calendar with a twist! Using real San Antonio, Texas women in iconic SA spots, we will merge the old and new with the help of some fantastically talented photographers. As a bartender at a local pub located near an Army base here in San Antonio, I hear a lot of stories about how many soldiers from around the world absolutely hate my beautiful hometown. To be fair, sometimes their concerns are legit. In any case, this project became my baby... it's not only the ultimate souvenir to send with soldiers on the next leg of their military journey, it's an outlet that will allow me to say: "SEE?! There are marvelous, glorious things about San Antonio!!" and point out Ms November's abs or Ms February's smile. It will be a way to redeem San Antonio in a way that only born-and-raised San Antonio women can do. When I first voiced the idea of doing a modern-day pinup calendar, I knew people would be interested, but I couldn't ever anticipate how excited people have gotten so far.
Where's the moola going?
We need these funds to print the first limited edition copies of the Patty Lou's Pinups calendar, to print posters to hang in businesses that have participated thus far, furthering the word of mouth advertising we will get to (hopefully) take online orders and a second printing, and -of course- to ship rewards to all of you, the Kickstarter community. Anything over the target fund amount will be used to add a spiral binding to the calendar to add a little more aesthetic appeal. So far, the specs of the finished product are: 12" by 12", 80lb glossy paper for the covers and inside pages, Saddle stitched binding, 3/16" hole for hanging, and 28 pages of pinup fabulousness.
Just a note (because we think it's important):
At Patty Lou's Red Baron, located just outside the Wurzbach gate of Ft Sam Houston, most of the clientele are service members from all branches of the Armed Forces who are really just looking for a place to put their feet up, eat a great burger and decompress. Wounded Warriors are not an uncommon sight, and since we all know what soldiers in our armed forces do for our country, all participants in the project have dedicated their work on this project to Wounded Warriors everywhere.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
All of the models, hair stylists, makeup artists and photographers have volunteered their expertise at no cost to the project because they all believe that we are providing something that members of the Armed Forces haven't seen since WWII. This means that, since we have little to no overhead cost concerning model/hairstylist/makeup artists' fees, we have already successfully scheduled and photographed 8 of the 12 months. Think about it: half of the work is done! The biggest hurdle I see is getting the book printed. Enter Kickstarter. Once the project is completely backed, I'll have everything I need to actually get a finished product into consumer's hands.
