Update #8: April 8 UPDATE Please Share!
April 8, 2011, Dear Friend: I am very happy that my eleventh book, The Lion Princess — Journey to an Awakening , was released late last year through Lighthouse Publishing. Although primarily for middle readers between ages eight to fifteen, adults enjoy reading the book also.I am very happy that my eleventh book,
We are very pleased with our initial successes:
☼ We were accepted as a project on Kickstarter.com: SEE here: http://kck.st/hHK9Fu
☼ I was on local TV and radio.
☼ We received six wonderful praise reports from readers in February.
☼ Various organizations around the Panhandle of Texas are considering using the book as a fundraiser or an incentive. We will brainstorm ideas that might work for your favorite organization, business, or church.
You can find out more about these successes after this brief summary of the book and where you can purchase the book.
The Lion Princess — Journey to an Awakening is a fun exploration into a girl’s learning about herself and her world. By her courage, faith, and determination Alice is able to overcome obstacles in her quest to see the land she will one day rule as queen. She learns far more than she expected — about herself, the people who love her most, the trials of life, and the God Who created her.
The novel is unique in that it is not an animal story, per se, but an adventure where a girl dons a very realistic lion suit, joins a circus, and finds out what a struggle it is to be an animal. After Alice experiences firsthand the trials of wild animals she returns home determined to do something to relieve the suffering of all animals.
Anyone who would like to purchase a copy of the book can buy it at http://www.pathpublishing.com/lion/ for $12.95, or buy in Amarillo at these locations: Hastings on 45th (4301 SW 45th — 806-359-5321) and A&D Bookstore on South Western (4709 S. Western — 806-463-1545). It is a signed and numbered, first limited edition.
Recently we uploaded our project at Kickstarter.com http://kck.st/hHK9Fu where you may back it in their all-or-nothing manner - NO RISK to backers if total goal is not met, NO money changes hands! - so that we can raise $1,300 for a larger printing and be able to help animal welfare groups, civic organizations, or churches. We would allow them to have, on consignment or at a reasonable purchase price, quantities of the book that they can use as an incentive or a fundraiser. We already have received positive responses from two individuals at SPCA International. Local organizations in the Panhandle are considering how they can use the book; I will be contacting more of them soon!

Film version would touch even more young people!

You are helping this book get a good start in life, because it would make a great TV animation or movie! If you have any ideas about how we can broaden its influence in society, let me know. I will not forget anyone who helps me!
This is a copy of the email notification that your backers receive.

☼ I was recently on Larry Renetzky’s KJRT radio show (at 88.3 FM). You can listen to the entire 30-minute conversation at Kickstarter.com at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pathpublishing/the-lion-princess-uplifts-young-people-and-rescues/posts We talked about many things, including the miraculous cover photo and the plight of our young people. I was also on KVII-TV’s morning show, of course, the television interview was brief, only about three minutes.
☼ From the radio script I prepared, here are ways to use the book to help your civic organization, business, church, or animal welfare group. Plus the book itself will change lives.
To help a civic organization:
Incentive: “Send in at least $30 to help support our children’s hospital and you will receive a free copy.”
To help a business:
Reward: “Because you paid off your loan on time, we want to give you a free copy of The Lion Princess, a book that adults enjoy reading also.”
To help a church:
Fundraiser: A church can purchase copies or I supply copies on consignment and they say to their youths, “Go out and sell these books to raise money for your church camp next summer.”
Also, for Sunday School or life training group, the book would make a great text for middle readers (ages 8-12, which can be expanded to 14 or 15). If a Sunday School class wants to study it, I will create a small workbook to aid the leader and supply study questions. That will increase attendance and aid church growth.
To help an animal welfare group:
An incentive: “Set up a bank auto-withdrawal for six months for at least $10 a month and you will receive a free copy.”
If you have a group you want to help, I can brainstorm ideas for you.
By way of a brief biography, I have been writing for forty years. I have enjoyed having five books published, and six more through my own publishing company, Path Publishing, where I have published eighteen other authors. I earned a master’s degree in Drama from West Texas A&M and an English master’s with a Drama minor from UT Pan American. I have taught college and high school English, and directed plays. My writings run the gamut, from youth fiction to adult nonfiction, storybooks, plays, and poetry.
Thank you for reading this! Please become a backer at Kickstarter http://kck.st/hHK9Fu or buy a copy — or buy multiple copies. One lady purchased four copies for her immediate family!
Also, please forward this email to at least one person. Thank you!
Sincerely,
