Successes and Challanges
We'd like to share an update with you on recent business and technical developments, and successes and challenges over the past couple of months.
We formally launched the PanaCast experience at DEMO Mobile 2013 in San Francisco on April 17, and the great news is that the audience and VC judges liked it very much; we are happy to share the news that we received the “DEMOgod” award! We've also received great coverage with the interviews from TechCrunch, Engadget, IEEE Spectrum, Wall Street Journal, TelePresence Options, the Bright Side of News, and many international channels. In the live demo on stage, we showed multiple PanaCast cameras in different locations connected within one PanaCast session, in real-time with super low latency, with participants being able to seamlessly switch from one view to another individually, immediately and directly, and independently of each other, as well as being able to pan and zoom across each video feed as they preferred.
We’ve focused on continuing improvements to the quality and stability of the apps and the overall experience, and added key new features which required substantial development, including:
* Multi-point Conferencing between up to 3 PanaCast cameras with up to a total of 50 participants
* Scalable Audio bridge integrated in our iOS Apps
We have developed and are testing the client software for Windows, which will enable you to join PanaCast meetings from Windows-based computers.
We've also developed a new software app which provides the capability for the camera to appear as a local OS-managed resource, so it can then be used with other Apps like Skype and Google Hangouts. The PanaCam software is currently under test for the Windows platforms and we plan to release it as a free app, enabling the PanaCast camera to be used by itself with these apps, independently of the PanaCast experience.
We've had continuing challenges with production builds with the contract manufacturing ecosystem overseas and have increased the US production schedule to address this challenge. We’ve been able to scale up operations here in April and ship weekly. We also expedited / procured additional material and are building an increased number of units in May in the US, with the goal of shipping most of the remaining backlog in the May / mid-June timeframe
We are committed to building a high quality product, enabling you to achieve a great experience with the full PanaCast Experience system and the PanaCam apps. We will update you directly as we ship your unit and provide you with tracking numbers, etc.
Thanks for your support!
