35 Additional pledge allotments have been added for the Vuelta 25.
We're down to the last two weeks before funding. I am overjoyed at the interest in the Vuelta 25 to the extent that all one hundred of the single order pledges were max'ed out.
My biggest surprise throughout this happy experience has been to the extent that the Vuelta 17 was overpowered by its cousin. In retrospect this makes sense. The 25 offers more features at a similar price point, which are numbers that I had built out on cost analysis versus a realistic look at demand.
The Vuelta 17 is based on a distinct idea: To take a well-known and legendary 17 jewel pocket watch platform and reboot it as a modern wrist watch, letting the very wide exhibition back testify to its heritage. Pocket watch movements are their own unique breed. They beat slower, use heavier lubricants, have stable power reserves, and can take a bit of abuse. The 17 is in every respect a watch designed with a collector's mindset, and as a guy who loves vintages, I made the 17 to be the 'enthusiast' watch.
The 25 is quite different than this. It's a smaller diameter 28,800 beat per hour automatic wind based on a modern platform used in a variety of contemporary models. Its engineering was conceived during a period in which mechanical watches were a mature technology (1960's and 1970's) versus the still experimental early-20th century. So one can say that the 17 and the 25 represent two 'bookends' in the golden age of mechanical-wind watches. Which is exactly why I had to make both of them.
The 17 is still available and I encourage you to get one because it's one seriously cool watch.
The 25? Well, it's clearly the straight A child. And while I have accommodated enough volume to include several combination packages, I calibrated the single orders, reasoning that "100 should be enough". And I that was another happy surprise. They sold out. Every loving one.
Fortunately there is capacity to add 35 more. I feel with 12 days to go, this seems like the correct thing to do. At the same time I have become so enthusiastic about the new band that I decided to make it the stock offering. Therefore, when you order a Vuelta 25, you're ordering the Chaparral band with it. (The new pledge level is now $438 to reflect this).
If you have already ordered a Vuelta 25 and the band, you're golden. I've noted your order, including the red stitch color if you specified it. (Default stitching is black). You are free to switch your pledge if you wish and it would free up allotments for the 25 alone. But it makes no difference either way. :-)
As we near the end of this, I once again want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everybody who has been a part of this. Now we near the process of turning our shared enthusiasm into some amazing watches, and I welcome your continued involvement along the way.

I should clarify that when I say the 25 is 'smaller diameter' I speak strictly of the mechanical movement within. Both the 17 and the 25 have identical case dimensions and are the same size.
