40 year old Paul Chambers has MSA, a rapidly progressing neurological degeneration disease. This movie follows him cross country.
Paul has Multiple System Atrophy. MSA is a rapidly progressive neuro-degenerative disease. Paul is already being fed with a feeding tube. The doctors estimate that by December 2012 Paul will be on a portable ventilator/respirator due to losing muscle strength in his chest. Paul is only 40.
Paul is going to take a cross country trip, literally from sea to shining sea as his last hooray to visit friends and family before he loses all his mobility.
This film will document Paul's journey down an uncertain road as he literally loses his life while fulfilling his life long dream of visiting America.
Not only will this film document Paul's journey but it will also bring awareness to this rare form of Parkinson's Plus.
Paul is an entertaining story teller and his acceptance of his illness has brought out a frankness in his conversations. His true life stories are amusing. You can read some of his true life stories by going to Google Plus and using the hash-tag search of #TrueLifeThursday
The funds will be used for the following:
1. Obtaining a "toy hauler" travel trailer that will be modified with an ICU type bedroom complete with Hospital bed, oxygen, advanced life support equipment, lifts and special entry and exit doors. The factory completed "residential" side will be used for camera operators and caretaker.
2. Camera equipment/filming. 6 Fixed HD cameras, 4 inside and 2 outside. 2 professional Photojournalists will be going along and filming real life events outside the RV.
3. Donor/gift fulfillment
4. Internet on the go and other misc. expenses.
5. Gas and transportation, RV camping fee's, etc.
6. Post production and submission to the film festivals.
Gifts fulfillment is estimated. The full cross country journey will be undertaken in October. In September small local multi-state day trip adventures will be undertaken to begin filming and physical/medical tolerance evaluation.
Please note his medical caretaker, medical equipment and most of his daily expenses during the trip and productions will be provided by Paul.
