Cue the global countdown: less than 40 hours to go, we've got global news to share
With fewer than 40 hours remaining in our Kickstarter campaign, it’s still business as usual at OUYA headquarters. We continue to jam on the task at hand, but we’ve got four quick announcements to share with you in this update.
First: We’ve been hearing requests from all over the Internet for a media player. Well we’re proud to announce that we will be working with XBMC.
That’s right. The award-winning, open source media player and entertainment hub is coming to OUYA. We’ve heard many of you buzzing about a potential OUYA-XBMC hook-up since Day One of launch. (Something of a match made in open source heaven!) Now, with a few hours left in our drive, we’re delivering.
Believe it, friends: XBMC, on OUYA, on your TV, legit.
Here it is, straight from the XBMC team:
Maybe it was inevitable. Maybe it was because of the hundreds, if not thousands, of demands on Twitter, in blogs, on Facebook, in Reddit, and in Kickstarter comments. Maybe it's because many of Team OUYA support XBMC, and nearly a third of Team XBMC members are OUYA backers.
Regardless, we are delighted to announce that XBMC will be working with OUYA to ensure that XBMC works well on the OUYA platform. OUYA's Android underpinnings and XBMC's work on Android (soon to be merged into master, pending final sign-offs!) will dramatically speed up that effort, as will early XBMC dev access to OUYA prototypes.
The conversation between our two teams is young, but talk is ongoing and positive. We look forward to providing more exciting news on this front as it develops.
- Nathan Betzen, XBMC Community Manager
And to our friends outside the US: we hear you. XBMC runs in over 40 different languages.
But that’s not all.
We’re boosting our radio reception around the world. We’ve partnered with TuneIn, a free service that lets people listen to the world's music, sports and news from wherever they are. With over 70,000 stations and two million on-demand programs, TuneIn offers unmatched variety for listeners across 230 countries and territories.
Enough of the tell and tell, we’ve also got some show and tell: That’s right! New renders for you. Eager to answer your questions about the size of OUYA, the team at fuseproject created some images to demonstrate the scale of the console and controller. Scroll down to check them out.
And, I guess I will end this update on a housekeeping note. Throughout our run on Kickstarter, our campaign page has served as the official OUYA information resource. After the campaign closes, we will unveil a new OUYA site at www.ouya.tv that will serve as OUYA central moving forward.
So with that, I’d like to thank you all once more for believing in this project and supporting it from the beginning. Again, we only have a handful of hours remaining, so please tell your friends about what we’re trying to do here. It’s your support that makes OUYA possible.

@Serdar It typically means you made a donation to the project and that you will not receive anything other than what is stated on the webpage where you selected the payment amount.
In this case "Reserve your username, plus get a FOUNDER EMBLEM forever emblazoned next to your username."

Its great to hear XBMC is on Board. Now it would be great to hear about a remote controll. Using a Gamecontroller would be fine, but a seperate remote controll would be awesome.
Creator Caleb on August 11, 2012
since OUYA is the CONSOLE FOR GAMERS BY GAMERS
i want to try to get my NES controller working with my OUYA...haha just for fun
Creator John Reijmer on August 9, 2012
Same mistake here. Pledged 99 but forgot to add the 20 for international shipping. Any tips on how to fix this? Appreciate any help.
Creator Jake on August 9, 2012
I think using your android phone as a remote for the streaming services would be brilliant
Creator Mattias Nordberg on August 9, 2012
I made the same mistake as Tristan, but the $99 option. Any chance we can pay for shipping when we give out our shipping details later?
Creator Tristan on August 9, 2012
I recently purchased the $140 selection but forgot to add $20 for international shipping, what should i do?
Please Reply ASAP

I feel like 1 usb port is not enough. Storage will be limited. Either have a memory slot or 2 usb slots. One usb slot may be used for a controller, maybe a keyboard and another for a thumb drive or if there's a sd slot that would suffice.
Creator KageNoOni on August 8, 2012
Yes, they included a USB port. A lot of people are wanting a second one it would seem, but such a problem can be solved with a USB hub, while allowing the Ouya team to keep the cost of producing the device lower.
Creator João Eduardo on August 8, 2012
The internacional shipping will have tracking code?
Creator IceCarpediem on August 8, 2012
If there is a USB port for more storage (external HDD/flash thumb drive) to storage games would be good. 8GB will fill up really fast. Also the controller should have top-side buttons so can be pressed by both index and middle finger while using the dual stick.
Creator Tyler C. Tuszynski on August 8, 2012
The addition of XBMC did it for me! I am now a proud OUYA backer. :)

if the controller is as dependable as the PS3 controller, i'm sold (actually i already made more than 4 pledges, but i'd be even more sold then)
Creator Warren Bedoya on August 8, 2012
button layout is mad confusing
Creator ManuSmashBros on August 8, 2012
Nice controller. I like the design.
Creator Michael Fralin on August 8, 2012
@Jamie Buckland. I hadn't thought about it until you mentioned it, but I completely agree with you: A rechargable battery for the controller would be nice.
Creator Justin Turpin on August 8, 2012
The controller does indeed look small.
It looks like they put a lot of time into the controller, so maybe it's still comfortable.
Creator Trevor Pierce on August 8, 2012
That controller is kind of small :/
But everything else is awesome. So excited.
Creator Chris Esch on August 8, 2012
@kryptonite: who needs ir when someone will surely make an app letting you pull out your android phone, connect to ouya, and control it with cell touchscreen just like a remote=)
Creator David Collins on August 8, 2012
Great project and even better I can get onboard from almost the beginning! All the best OUYA guys
Creator Kryptonyte on August 8, 2012
With the likes of XBMC, Plex and other media playing abilities, will Ouya have an inbuilt IR receiver to receive commands via remote control whilst sitting on the couch? I realize you can probably use a controller to navigate such programs, but integration into home theater via a programmable remote such as Logitech Harmony series would be the icing on the cake. Keep up the good work!
Creator Mikaël on August 8, 2012
damn, that looks very nice. And the XBMC news is the best news I've heard this year I think ^^!
Creator ED GALLARDO on August 8, 2012
Wow the console is small, was worried about more clutter on my Home Theater setup...this has such a small footprint!!! I'm excited about this project!!! Can't wait for mine....

Next game on Ouya announced: EPIC SKATER
Lets make it possible: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/4255142/epic-skater…
Creator Andrey Ivanov on August 8, 2012
Yay for XBMC!
Creator Piotr Chrzanowski on August 8, 2012
ok...first I pledged, then I decided to step out due to some concerns (games availability & quality, risk etc.) but after announcement of XBMC I had to come back. damn you :)
I think that XBMC move is probably one of smartest thing to happen, if you can integrate it seamlessly, get more developers on board & build a quality hardware this will be great project indeed. or as someone mentioned biggest scam in the universe :P
Creator Angus Henderson on August 8, 2012
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Amazing. Honestly, if you lot keep listening to your audience as quickly as you do, then you're all just gonna smash everything out of town!
THANKYOU!
Creator Ducudufru on August 8, 2012
Many thanks OUYA !
I've checked TuneIn and all my favorite US radio stations are on it. Living in France, the only way to listen to them was my phone or my PC. I'm really happy with that :) XBMC is a great choice too.
This tiny box will surely be the main media center in my living room plus a super game console. Can't wait :)
Creator Glenn McClune on August 8, 2012
What I would love is for XBMC to be able to launch apps straight from it and return to XBMC. Nothing against the OUYA interface, but XBMC is my favorite UI I have ever touched and it would be dreamy to go back to when XBMX was on the xbox and I could customize how my games appeared and launch them and exit them with ease.
Creator Thomas Kowoll on August 8, 2012
Great!
With XBMC, OUYA will probably kick out my HTPC out of my living room.
Creator Draicwing on August 8, 2012
You are GREAT - XBMC on the OUYA will be my favorite App! Thank you for reading the many requests from users.
