"The Old Sisters' Home" has officially been released!

Update #5 · Dec 12, 2011 · comment

Hi backers,

Our project has successfully come to fruition.  This past weekend, we released 'The Old Sisters' Home' with a concert at the beautiful Lydia Mendelssohn Theater in Ann Arbor, MI. We had lots of help from lots and lots of folks and we are tremendously grateful for all of their contributions.

On to business: the album is complete, the tubular bells have been buffed to a shimmer, and so over the next 2 weeks we plan to finish up compiling and shipping the reward packages you all have earned.  Be sure to maintain good relations with your local postman to ensure delivery of your package before Christmas night.

If you've changed address since sending your survey responses, let us know ASAP and we'll update our books.

Stay warm,

Orpheum Bell

p.s. For those who'd prefer not to wait for the package to hear the album, you can now stream it from our Bandcamp site (orpheumbell.bandcamp.com), which can also be accessed via our Facebook page (facebook.com/orpheumbell).

WE DID IT (and beyond)

Update #2 · Sep 4, 2011 · comment

Dear Supporters,

THANK YOU, from the bottom of our collective heart for each and every one of your pledges! We reached our goal of $4,000 in just 10 days, and we couldn't be more thankful to you, our community, for your overwhelming support.

As a treat for our generous backers, we will soon be posting an update featuring an un-voiceover'd version of the music video we made for this project of our new song entitled, 'Chain-Stitched Heart'.

Meanwhile, the campaign continues! Since we still have two weeks left, and since we could most definitely make use of additional donations for all of our production expenses, we have come up with additional gifts to reward ALL backers if we reach certain plateaus, outlined below:

If we reach $5,000:

ALL BACKERS will receive a hand-stamped and signed thank you note from the band, PLUS a 50% discount coupon code for our Bandcamp site, where you can order tracks (individual or as an album) from our first two albums "Pretty as You" (2007) and "Pearls" (2009).

If we reach $6,000:

ALL BACKERS will receive a custom made Orpheum Bell e-scrapbook. We will be gathering an assortment of keepsakes that will reveal all of our well-guarded secrets: original lyric sheets, old posters, daguerreotypes of us as children, the original sheet of paper listing optional band names, and much more; all gathered and laid out nicely, sent to our backers as a tidy PDF booklet.

If we reach $7,000:

ALL BACKERS will receive either an Orpheum Bell t-shirt OR a FREE download of one of our first two albums.

So please continue to spread the word, and we will continue to work hard.

Your band,

Orpheum Bell

Big thanks for an incredible first week!

Update #1 · Aug 29, 2011 · comment

Hi all,

We wanted to thank everyone who has donated so far for a marvelous first week; getting to above 90% of our goal in just one week was well beyond our hopes and expectations, and we are extremely grateful to all of you.

We are working hard to make your donations count - in addition to old-timey businessing (see photo), we spent a day in the studio last week (yielding a few hours so that Acoustic Cafe could record a segment with Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, of all people), and will spend a few more this week to finish up our last few songs that we are very much looking forward to sharing with you.

On top of that, we will be  playing at The Strutt in Kalamazoo this Thursday (9/1) with Eastern Blok, and in Ann Arbor on Friday (9/2) at the Ark with our good friends the Red Sea Pedestrians. Both shows will be coursing with eastern European stylings, and, of course, we would love to see you there.

Your band,

Orpheum Bell
