Hi, thanks for visiting our Kickstarter page! With your help, we plan on finishing the layout, design and printing of our first edition book, Open to Interpretation: Water's Edge.
A fresh, innovative project Open to Interpretation brings together photographers, writers and poets in a collaborative book. The interaction between the images and words combine in such a way that the collaboration is greater than either of the individual components - adding a completely different dimension to the artists and writers work.

A good photograph tells a story. But it tells a slightly different story to every viewer. The stories are fleeting, disappearing from the viewers’ minds in the moments it takes to turn a page or walk to the next gallery. Open to Interpretation captures these stories, pairing fine art photographers with writers and poets in a one-of-a-kind innovative book project.
The project begins with a themed call for photos. The chosen photos become the literary inspiration for the writers’ submissions. A book is created that matches each winning photo with two stories or poems that offer different interpretations of the image. The unique collaboration adds new dimensions to both the photos and the written word.

Why do we need your help? Simply put, book publishing can have a hefty price tag. Admittedly there are plenty of "print on demand" options online, but we are committed to creating a full-color, hardbound, highly crafted book printed by a custom book company.
So how is the money going to be used? It will pay for the layout, cover design, editing, choosing typefaces and lettering, page layouts, sequencing, decisions regarding trim size and proportion, essays and interviews, forewords and afterwords, bibliographies, captions, paper, binding and printing. All the money pledged will go into the book - to producing the highest quality, most compelling and beautifully printed art book we can make.
Project updates? Absolutely. They will be posted regularly here on Kickstarter (just tap that updates button at the top). We want everyone involved with the project to know what's going on towards our scheduled book launch in December 2011.
How can you help make this happen? There are four important ways you can help Open to Interpretation succeed.

You can pledge anywhere from $1 to $6500. In case you don't already know - if we don't meet our goal, we don't get a dime.
