We're sold out for now
Dear Backers,
Wow! Overnight, all our kits sold out. We're so grateful to everyone who has supporting us for making the project a smashing success. We still can't believe our eyes when we look at a progress chart!
We've decided that we won't be adding more rounds of kits to this campaign, because we want to focus all our effort on ensuring that everyone who has placed an order already will get a kit they are satisfied with. But don't worry, there will be more kits in the future. We plan to make more available through our website, onetesla.com, in the coming months. If you'd like to be notified of when there will be more, please give us your email at this link. We promise not to share your email or bother you with anything other than a notification of when they will become available again.
Good news! Reward level with controller + interrupter boards added.
But if you're really dying to get a Tesla coil soon, we're adding the bare interrupter board along with the main board at the $50 level! We'll also post a list of parts that you can order by yourself to put the boards together.
In about week we'll be posting details of our revamped interrupter board, which will have the capability to control the Tesla coil without a MIDI input. It won't be a major redesign, but just a handful of added features and an improvement of the layout. We also plan to put it in a metal enclosure for RF shielding purposes.
Also still in the works are spun toroids, which will be an optional upgrade to the kit. Right now we're working with a metal supplier to investigate the possibility of stamping them out of stainless steel sheet rather than spinning out of aluminum, which might be an easier and cheaper way to produce a large quantity.

For those who order the standalone driver+interrupter board, any chance that you'll post CAD files for the custom acrylic pieces (primary + casing)? Or instructions on making the topload?

@Eric: We'll be posting the parts list with Digikey part numbers as soon as we finish up the next revision of our boards, which should be early next week. We plan to make additional chasses, secondaries, and toroids individually available on our website in a few months.
@Steve: It was a tough decision to stop taking orders, but we definitely don't want to bite off more than we can chew right now. We're overjoyed to have such huge success, and we want all of our backers to be happy with what they get, so that's where we're putting our efforts.

If I were you I would continue adding kits to Kickstarter while you have the momentum. If you end up with $1M worh of orders you have many more production options and leverage in getting parts made than $150K of orders and hope that more orders come in later. Batches by date is a good way to go, if people are willing to wait six months or more for delivery you should sell to them now if you can. Good luck with your project, great to see it doing so well.

So glad I got one in time!

Excellent!
I'm pledged for the driver & interrupter board and am eagerly awaiting information on components and toroids. Any chance on being able to order the acrylic case parts as well, or is that the biggest bottleneck for you guys in terms of production?
