Update #10: What a month!

Posted on May 15

This past month has been a dream come true for the entire One Day on Earth team. After years of planning, we shared the completed One Day on Earth film in approximately 160 countries on April 22nd, Earth Day. We set a new world record for the most international film premiere. Kyle and I attended the screening in the United Nations General Assembly (picture below) - with 1700 other attendees. It was filled to capacity! We posted pictures and videos HERE from some of the events from around the world.

This is all possible thanks to the support from friends, family and community members, in particular ones found here on kickstarter. And, we have happily begun the process of prepping for kickstarter reward fulfillment. As customary for film distribution, we'll be shipping the DVDs after our theatrical run is completed. . . but there is plenty of organizing to be done in-between then and now. We appreciate your patience and we can't wait to share.

We'll be in theaters in New York from June 1-7 and in Los Angeles from June 22-28 (click HERE for info). We hope to expand into other cities as news of the film spreads. In New York and LA, we are planning to donate the box-office profit to local charities. Help grow the impact of the screenings by referring all your NY and LA friends!

In other US markets, we are using a website called Tugg, which gives anyone the ability to organize their own theatrical screening in a local theater. Internationally, we are working with local organizers to connect with theaters and schools who are interested in bringing an audience together.

As all this activity is buzzing around, we are also reviewing the 11/11/11 video footage; there is no shortage of daily inspiration in the One Day on Earth archive. We are dedicated to grow the project's reach. . . there's lots to do!

Thank you for your support. We've included a couple links below, please forward them to anyone you think will be interested.

Tickets for NY and LA limited release (if you are part of a local charty that would be interested in raising funds via a screening, send us a message): http://www.onedayonearth.org/movietickets

Again, thanks for the support and patience!

Update #9: Cleared for takeoff

Posted on February 1

Good news Backers... in the past couple weeks we shared the One Day on Earth feature film with several United Nations Communication Directors and, after a couple pointers on international sensitivities, we are cleared to press on with the Global Screening Day.

We are working to schedule this date, as you can guess there are a lot of parties involved. Via our friends at UNESCO, we have some amazing screening offers from World Heritage Sites around the globe: from mountain ranges in Australia, to ancient cities in the Middle East.

As we confirm locations and the date, we'll be sure to post info... lots of info. We are very excited and working around the clock to make this happen in a very big way.

Thanks again for your support. More updates coming soon!

Update #8: One Day on Earth New Year Update

Posted on January 4

Dear Kickstarter Backers,

Happy New Year! We are pleased to announce that we have begun conforming the film (getting the "final cut" ready for color correction and picture clean-up).

Bringing the 3000 hours of incredibly diverse footage into a feature length format has been an unprecedented process. We have translated over 70 languages and have every country in the world represented in the film.

We're lucky to have such a patient community of supporters - as we know that we have taken a bit longer than expected to get to the finish line. That said, we will plan to send updates on a more regular basis now that the major editing challenge is nearly wrapped. Our last update was sent to all backers through "constant contact" - but it seems it wasn't received by everyone. We hope this makes it to your inbox. Feel free to also "like" us on facebook to stay in touch.

We are working out our distribution strategy, starting with the amazing opportunity to have the world's first-ever global screening. Those that supported us by pre-ordering DVD's will be notified on the timeline for DVD distribution once we have the rollout scheduled.

We'll be updating our site in the next several weeks to feature regular blog postings referencing the great stories shared with us from our 2010 and 2011 archive. We're also excited to independently acknowledge the backers from the kickstarter campaign in that update.

We can't thank you enough for the support- the process of making this film has linked communities, created a new perspective, and showed us the power of a new method of production. We are looking forward to sharing the results and we hope you'll be proud to have helped back this process.

Best,

Brandon, Kyle and the One Day on Earth Team

Update #7: Forging ahead with the edit

Posted on September 22, 2011

Dear One Day on Earth backers,

We first have to say that we are still so moved by the support given to us through the Kick Starter Campaign.

We are making fantastic progress through the post-production schedule and continue to be inspired by the videos and community of filmmakers that made this all possible. We are also getting incredible support for our next filming day of 11/11/11. The creation of a yearly shared global archive is clearly an important tool and movement and we are excited to produce it with the help of over 60+ non-profits and 17,500+ One Day on Earth members. Please share this article about our hopes to continue this collaboration, at least until 2015: http://mashable.com/2011/09/21/one-day-on-earth-social-good/

We are working diligently on finishing the first global film and will be reaching out later in the year for shipping info to send the Kickstarter rewards when the final steps are complete. The post-production funds raised through this campaign are a vital part to this 3-year-long dream and process; so, thanks again for making it come true.

Please join the One Day on Earth online community, friend us on facebook, and follow us on twitter for up-to-date info on the progress of One Day on Earth. And, please spread the news of the 11/11/11 film day!

Thanks again,

One Day on Earth
