JURASSIC LIVE Hits The Road This Weekend!

Update #6 · Jun 8, 2012 · comment

On The Road

Well folks, here we are! This Sunday Jurassic Live will kick off with our first performance at the Stateside theatre in Austin, and then we'll begin trucking down the road for the rest of our performances. Some of you my have some questions, so feel free to contact us at OldMurderHouseTheatre@gmail.com, but hopefully we'll answer them all below in this update!

New Website

Looking to send other people towards Jurassic Live? Need more tickets? Looking for info for the various venues? Then simply head to our simplified, straightforward new website found at...

www.oldmurderhousetheatre.com

There you'll find links to each venue, ticket page, and our latest videos. Keep an eye on it.

Kickstarter Ticket Procedures

One of the beautiful things about this tour is the wide variety of venues and sorts of events we'll be appearing at. With that in mind, we hope all of our Kickstarter backers will be willing to work with us and be flexible the day of the show. At each performance we will have a will-call list of backers names and information, ready to let you guys into the venue. In some cases we may just have a special table set-up, and others you should be able to stop by the box office and pick up a ticket.

Look for emails close to each performance about what to do if you're a backer attending a show. In many cases this will be our first time arriving at these venues (or even these states), so info on parking and such will be sent out as we get it. KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR EMAILS. Remember, we keep a close eye on the oldmuderhousetheatre@gmail.com address, so you can always get us there!

Boston News

While we've already individually let everyone who responded to the survey know, do be aware that we've had to let go of our Boston performance. After a number of problems with different venues, and a relative lack of interest in that particular city, it became clear that it wasn't going to work out.

If you were planning on attending the Boston show and haven't gotten a KS message about changing the arrangement, please email the OMHT address and we'll correspond with you about what can be done. We're not going to leave you high and dry...

City Promos

Keep an eye out on the Twitter Feed and the Facebook Page - we'll be releasing city-specific promos for each stop on the tour. Here's the first...

At this point, all we can say is "Thank You!" We couldn't be more excited that this tour gets to happen and we get to bring this play to people all over the nation.

Keep spreading the word though... we've got 40 hours yet and plenty of tickets we could sell.

Look for updates very soon about how things will progress from here!

Getting Close In The Home Stretch

Have you taken a look at the project page lately? We've busted 15k and are closing in on our project goal! We've still got a final big hump to get over in a short amount of time, so we still need all the help getting eyeballs on this as we can get! Please keep up the Facebook sharing, tweeting, etc.

Remember though, let people know that this a way they can get tickets to the show.

While we're happy for each and every contribution whether someone can attend a show or not, it's important to remember that this is essentially a pre-sales event- so let people know! We've got some new fun icons below to help.

Twitter Prizes

To try and boost people's contributions we're going to be tossing out some new prizes for backers in the final days of the project. These will be things like Jurassic Park VHS copies signed by the cast of our parody show or other fun surprises. We'll be offering them to random new backers or folks who get us over specific goals, but don't worry if you've already pledged-- we'll have fun surprises for our early backers as well. You were the ones that had faith in us from the start, so we'll be choosing a bunch of early backers to give extra prizes to as well.

Be sure you're following @OldMurderHouse on twitter to keep up.

Icons To Share

To help you spread the JP Parody Tour word, we've tossed together some versions of our poster icons for your to share on your Facebook! Just right click and hit "save image as" so you can post 'em up and be literally the coolest person on any kind of social media in history. Make sure to include a link to the Kickstarter page!

Here's a high-res link to this last image.

New Dinosaur?

In non-project news, there's word out there of a new dinosaur! This one -- related to the T-rex -- apparently sported a shaggy coat of feathers! The NY Times says...

"Although several species of dinosaurs with feathers have already been uncovered in the rich fossil beds of Liaoning Province, the three largely complete 125-million-year-old specimens are by far the largest. The adult was at least 30 feet long and weighed a ton and a half, about 40 times the heft of Beipiaosaurus, the largest previously known feathered dinosaur. The two juveniles were a mere half ton each."

We might have to make room for a cameo from this big, feathered badass!

Gaining Momentum...

As March closes out we're happy to say there are now over 125 contributors to our project, with us cresting $7,000 in contributions as we write this update. Obviously that still leaves us with a steep hill to climb as we enter April, but the last few days have shown contributions gaining serious momentum. With all the fun stuff and cool surprises we've got up our scaly sleeves, we're confident well be roaring with joy by the end of this Kickstarter project!

As many awesome things as have left to unveil, the need for help from each and every one of our contributors can not be overstated! We need you to help us get this out there so please make sure you're sharing this on your Facebook (as often as the patience of your friends will allow) and be sure to message anyone you think would be especially excited for some live-action dinosaur action. Don't forget to Tweet it, Tumble it, Upvote it, Pin in, Instagram it, Stumble it - every little bit helps!

Now for the fun stuff.

New OLD MURDER HOUSE Video...

We put together this short exploration of the history Old Murder House Theatre from our humble back-porch beginnings staging the very first "Jurassic Park Play" (documented here), all the way through selling out an ice skating rink across several nights for "Aliens: On Ice!" Check it out...

You can keep up with Old Murder House and the JP Tour project on our Facebook page.

New Poster Tease...

We'll be unveiling a full poster for the tour very soon -- the one you'll receive as a limited-edition, signed print at the $100 level -- but we don't want to leave you hanging too long, so here's a tease of the hand-painted poster by troupe member Nathan Sakulich.

You'll also notice a few fun images from the poster adorning the Kickstarter page itself, so be on the lookout...

Storming The Media...

As you can see on the front of the Kickstarter page that -- along with our WIRED coverage in the latest print issue -- we've gotten a stupendous amount of coverage from great blogs. We're proud to have gotten ink at/in Movies, CHUD, The Austin Chronicle, Screen Invasion, First Showing, Badass Digest, Culturemap, Jurassic Park Legacy, Examiner, and Ain't It Cool.

If you know of other sites that have covered the project, do let us know so we can thank them and share it! We should have more great coverage coming soon.

Thank You & Remember To Spread the Word!
