A zombie attempts to prove his agent wrong when he's told he's too nice to make it in the biz.

Why we're making this film.  Bolstered by positive feedback concerning our last short film - www.youtube.com/user/OffLabelMedia  - we’d like to try our hand at a more complex story, one about the frustrations faced by actors and agents alike trying to make their mark in Hollywood. It’s both a critique of an industry that values cheap thrills and short-term profit over enduring artistry and a homage to the more complex and terrifying characterizations from well-loved movies of the past. Nonetheless, it's still a comedy with plenty to laugh about.

The story features an out-of-work actor who happens to be a zombie; unfortunately, he gets passed over for zombie roles because he's considered too nice. His agent's advice to challenge some inner rage leads to consequences neither the actor nor his agent could foresee. It's a comedy rooted in trying circumstances, and which finds hope in defying the expected.

Our approach. At this time, we're estimating one and a half full days of shooting for principal photography. The entire project will be shot within Los Angeles County, the bulk of the scenes to take place in an office. The actual locations have yet to be chosen, since our options depend on the amount of funding we can raise.

The look of the film will be minimalist in terms of lighting, but shaped enough to be visually enjoyable.  The film is not a hand-held, cinema verite'  type of shoot, but a very composed and controlled execution - while allowing our cast to have room within those composed living spaces to explore and breathe life into their roles.  The emphasis, after all, is the comic dynamic between the two characters, and the camera shots will showcase that.

We've already begun to cast and search for locations, and have generated the interest of some very talented actors and crew to help us on key positions and aspects of the filmmaking process who are excited to be a part of the project. Our Director of Photography and Editor will be Milo Popp whose credits include Code 207 and Red Rose of Normandy. We should be able to announce our cast before long too.

Where the money goes.  With your help, we can provide our crew with minimal recompense for all their time and effort on the production.  Everything from zombie makeup, location fees, feeding the cast and crew, sound engineering, editing and basic compensation for the cast under SAG guidelines (for those who may be union workers), as well as specific post services to finish the film (such as sound mixing and some special effects), will all be covered by your generous backing.

Your backing is strictly to help fund the below-the-line items and necessities, and some of the finishing and financing costs, which I’m estimating to be close to $1500. Since we get nothing if we don't meet our requested funding, we've set a bare minimum of $1200 to get the film financed, while hoping to exceed that enough to cover all costs.Once funding is closed, there's a two week waiting period at which time we can access the funds and make the short film, which, by that time, will most likely be early March.

If we raise in excess of the request, the additional funds will be applied to festival entrance fees and post-production, as well as the printing/shipping costs for some of the rewards like DVDs of the film. We're not making any money from this movie, but the better financed we are, the more we can do to promote it.

UPDATE:

We've recently secured the participation of two fantastic actors: Justin Okin, as the agent, and David Trachtenberg, as the actor-zombie.

You can see more of Justin's work at www.justinokin.com. The first clip includes a scene with fellow actor, David Trachtenberg.

For a taste of David's stand-up comedy, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ji7jYH27WYA&feature=g-upl&context=G2a3aeb4AUAAAAAAABAA

Your Angel contributions will help us to finish the film under its best light, and help us to bring this story to the screen.

Thanks so much.
