Hi bakers, we have just received 250 more wallets, this will fill all the sleepy birds and a few of the early-birds that didn't get filled in the first batch. (Gold - JC and a couple of Grey)

There is a lot of labeling to do, we should be able to get these shipped out by Tuesday. We will send out a notification to you once they ship.

People from the first two levels that got laser etching, they will be done this week, so should ship in 7 days. The remaining wallets will be done in one last batch. This is the special editions and the $125 backer level. We should be able to get these out before the end of May.

Its been a long road to go from samples to smooth production line. If we can get them all out before the end of May then we will be 60 days later than our original estimate we made in Nov 2012. Although waiting is painful, we think you will see the wait was worth it when you receive your wallets.

One other bit of small news, we are continuing to refine the production process, we have a new anodizing rack that should lead to more consistency. This one will clamp the wallet in 4 spots so it can not move.

Quick update. 

Production is running smoothly. All be it time consuming. We just received an updated schedule from our supplier. 

We are getting a next batch of 250 pieces May 9th. Give us about a week to pack and ship them. 

After the 9th our CNC shop will have more free machines to dedicate to Obtainium wallets. We will go from 5 machines running simultaneously to 11. Which means the completion of the rest of the wallets should be done around May 20th.

Its really exciting news for us, seeing light at the end of the manufacturing tunnel.

Exciting news backers, the first Obtainium wallets are going out Monday 22nd April. 

We visited our supplier on Friday to oversee the final assembly and boxing. They look great in their boxes and we are happy with the results. 

Although we thought we could get them out Saturday it took a surprising amount of time to address, label and pack 125 wallets. You can see below how large a pile this is. So we missed the 1pm closing time of the post office. Now they will ship Monday. 

The packages are being sent by registered mail. These 125 units are from the early bird backer level. The remaining 75 early birds will be sent soon. This set includes Grey, Olive and Black colors. It does not include the JC signature model, Gold or orders with custom laser etching. These variations were not yet complete and will ship as soon as they are ready. 

As for the other pledge levels, they are being cut and anodized as fast as the machines can run. We visited the machine shop and they have 5 machines running simultaneously just to cut the wallets. We went into more detail with them about the various steps required. Its a long process taking 1.5hrs per wallet half, so 3 hrs total in machine time. We took some video of the CNC machines running and will upload a video later in the week once we edit the footage.

Hi backers, we have some good news and a first ship date. 

Our plan is to do our first round of assembly and packaging next Friday 19th and ship the first units on Sat the 20th April. 

This is not a 100% guarantee, provided no unforeseen serious problems it should happen. 

The progress so far is about 500 units machined, 250 have been sandblasted and are on the way to the anodizer. These units will be assembled on Friday. 

Will bring you photos of the assembly a few days after that.

Short update backers. This time good news. 

Our supplier for hard anodizing could not match our colors or keep consistency between batches so we had to try some other suppliers. 

We found one who can do hard anodize in the colors we want, also as a bonus the coatings are slightly thicker. Which will translate into longer wear life. =)
